Guess What???!!!!

No, I'm not pregnant. No, I'm not the newest DT member anywhere. No, I didn't win the lottery (darn!). Give up? Well...okay, I'll tell you. The day after our oldest son and his fabulous family left to go back to Arizona, I had the wonderful and exciting chance to meet and spend a few hours with none other than Carol of Just Me: C!!!!!! She let me know that she and her dear, sweet Andy would be passing my way on their way back home with a trailer full of bike equipment, and would I like to get together?! Oh heck yes! She called the night before, and let me tell you, I had a hard time getting to sleep that night, and I think I was wide awake peering at all the yellows and blues in my bedroom as soon as the sun rose. Excited is too tame a word, let me tell you! I stopped off at the legendary O&H Bakery to pick up a couple of our famous Danish Kringles because you can't visit Racine without having a taste of this delectable Danish delight. (Don't be fooled by imitators; this is the ultra best...) Then it was off to Starbucks to wait. I was early. Couldn't help it; couldn't wait a second longer to get there. Not too long after I arrived, up drove Carol and Andy. We greeted each other like old friends! You know exactly what I mean, don't you?! Immediate comfort and perfect rapport. She's a bit of a thing, and as sweet and nice as you'd imagine. I wish you all could have been there to meet her too. We fell into conversation and discussed everything from our passion for cardmaking to travel, work and husbands, little children, and everything we could in the time we had. She's entirely captivating, and I know you'd love her too! I'm blessed for even having the few, short hours we shared. At the very last, Andy took a few photos. I'll share one with you here:

You know how you have that little place in your heart where you store up those special memories? Well this is going in there too. And that way I can pull out a sunny summer morning spent with a sweet someone whenever I want to!

*happy sigh*

And now onto a couple of cards.... One for CASology, and one for Uniko, as well as Less Is More.

Uniko's theme is 'black and white, with the optional twist; a splash of color,' and LIM's is to use snippets. That card used all scraps, except for the base! Yippee!! First up is the CASology card:

Lots and lots of white space. Michaels white, and a scrap of blue for papers. LF paper airplane die and MB cloud dies. The sentiment is on the inside and reads, "Flying by to say hi." I really like the simple look of this card.

Here's card number two:

Other than the Michaels white base, all papers are scraps - woohoo!! The circles were cut with my favvie WPlus9 dies, and I used an NBUS (been in my stash waaaay tooooo long) MFT eyeglasses die. The sentiment is from Verve, and stamped with Versafine ink. And that's about it for now. I've got to make a get-well card for my 93 year old boyfriend from church; he's having surgery next week, nothing too major, but I want him to know I'm thinking of him, plus another million birthday cards, anniversary cards, and a sympathy card...it's a good thing I'm retired, lol! Anyway, happy dances everyone! It's good to be back, and I'll get caught up commenting soon, I promise! : )

SO happy for the two of you!! I used to give my kids an incredible amount of grief that their online friends weren't real friends. But I've definitely had to eat my words with the advent of this cardmaking blogging community. Friendships ARE formed - and it is so true that you have instant rapport when you meet in real life!

And I'm always amazed by what you can do with a whole lotta white space and a couple of embellies. You're such a genius cardmaker! Sorry for the radio silence of late - I just got back from a week-long camping trip with my fam.

Oh my sweet, wonderful, darling, fabulous friend! What a lovely post you've written about our amazing, yet far tooooo short visit! I treasure your words here; I treasure the time we shared; I treasure our conversation; I treasure YOU! And don't we look ever so happy! Yes indeed: two old friends, catching up, and exhilarating in the act of doing so! My life is enriched in having you in it! Truly enriched! And the Kringle: oh my oh my oh my! You should have seen the looks on our faces when we first tasted it...bliss! What a treat - and so grateful that you sent a second one! As for another visit: oh yes, yes, yes and yes! And for an extended period of time! May the plotting and scheming begin! Both your cards are sheer delight! The simplicity of the paper plane in the clouds makes me smile; the glasses and stripes combination is just delightfully striking! And your 95 year old boyfriend? How sweet is that! Hope his surgery goes well; guaranteed your card will lift his spirits (as I'm sure your mere presence does, as well). We're off to bike races every day this weekend; the most 'prestigious' competition in the province, with over 225 riders competing. Best find my stop watch and clip board! Miss you, my friend...I really do miss you!! Hope your Saturday is fabulous!
Hugs and love~c
