Finishing Up a Couple of Cards

Busy weekend with lots going on, including DH feeling under the weather again. I got a couple of cards started, some, (ugliness abounding) finished, (and not posting those...bleccchhh!), and ideas for others pinging around in my brain. Those that I started I liked, so only had to put the finishing touches on them today. It was fun. Cardmaking generally is though...

Fellow BABE and dear friend Darnell, is GD at City Crafter Challenge Blog this week. Absolutely HAD to play along! The theme at CCCB is "washi tape." I think I made about, oh, seventy leven butt ugly cards, which you won't see here. Desperately needed some inspiration, so I hopped on Pinterest to get a little. More ugly cards by me from lovely pins. Nearly gave up, but thought, "oh heck, one more peeksie doodle, and if nothing 'hits', then I'll email Darnell and say sorry." Then I found this one....

*sigh*
Fell in love with it. I'm guessing you love it too (can I get an AMEN??!!). Then, after wiping the drool from my chin, and tears from my eyes, I saw the artist's name...yep. Lynn of The Mango Boys and Me fame. So I'm hoping she doesn't mind my CASE of her sweet, sweet card. Same, yet different.

I didn't pop anything up except for my little flower. Started with a Michaels white base, a piece of black cardstock, and another white for my panel. Cut the rectangle with an MFT die and added a scrap piece of gingham. Green polka dot washi, W Plus 9 sentiment and flower. Pretty easy. Thanks for the inspiration, Lynn!

Next card is for Time Out Challenge. They're celebrating their first birthday, and I thought a 'thank you' card would be appropriate because they've got a great DT, and always have fun challenges. I don't always get a chance to play, but I always enjoy going over and checking out the cards! Happy Birthday Time Out! The minute I saw their inspiration photo, a ping blasted my brain, and I knew exactly what my card would look like.

What do you see? I saw lots of white space with yummy colors. I kept my card pretty CAS.

An aqua base with a Michaels white panel. I used all AE stamps for this one from the 'Oh Happy Day' set. Several inks in colors similar to the frames, then some brown ink for the 'branchy' sentiment. Three white sequins and done. Poor lighting here, but they are actually pretty matchy-matchy. I'll stop now. It's a beautiful Monday. Happy dances everyone.

Love both your cards! And yes, that Amen you heard was from me when I saw Lynn's card. But yours is just as nice! Feels good to get a couple of keepers after a few in the trash, doesn't it?

You did Lynn proud with the CASE of her card, Bev. I love that gingham paper. Your sentiment on the second card really does imitate the branches. What a find that was! I'm know what you mean about things turning out ugly. I find that happens most when I try to force a card. I'm trying to get over that.

Oh how happy for me to pop on over here (had to mark my google reader as all read yesterday as I was too overwhelmed to go through everything). And what a happy, happy surprise to see your CASE...I love that sweet little bloom. Fabulous! And...double whammy you're playing with us over at Time Out. Love how you played on the white space! I'm right there with you the ugly cards too...been lacking inspiration lately!

Miss Bev, so sorry to hear that your sweet DH is under the weather, no fun at all. Sending well wished his way. Your cards are just fabulous...love them both. So happy you posted these cards, I have been wanting to play along with Darnell and only had just a bit over an hour to get my card made and posted, so thank you for the reminder. I love what you did for your washi tape card, just so beautiful with that single posie, love it. And your TIME OUT card is so sweet, love those fabulous arrows. Hope you are doing well and Dwight said it gets way too cold in your area to even consider moving. But a visit would still be fun! Miss you lots.

Well thank goodness you persevered and show us these beauties. It's amazing how the right inspiration gets our creative juices flowing in JUST the right way. I'm very familiar with cards that don't make the cut so I empathize with you and your crafty troubles. But in the end it all works out and what you've created will no doubt give someone else the inspiration they need too!

Glad you stuck with it. These two cards are fantastic. Have to agree with your thoughts about Lynn and her cards. Always love to CASE hers, and don't be surprised if yours gets CASED also. Love all the arrows on your second card--very fun take on the sketch.

Oh dear...hope John is feeling better!

Nice to see these two made it past the pile of 'seventy leven butt ugly cards!" (which were likely not even CLOSE to butt ugly!!!).

Your case of Lynn's card is absolutely stunning! Love the soft, muted colors and how well the washi MATCHES the gingham!

Pings were right on target (ha ha ...arrows...target) with the Time Out colors. Sweet bits of bling and gorgeous white space!

Sending hugs and prayers to John, dear friend! Hope he's feeling better! I can't believe you made even one butt ugly card, never mind seventy leven (which I've surpassed this week...yeesh, Mr. Mojo is flailing on the ground!), but how wonderful that one more peeksie doodle (hahaha...love that)landed you the inspiration to create your fabulous washi-gingham creation. The popped flower is *the* perfect special touch! Your second card: only a most innovative, brilliant take on the photo, which I'm close to running away from! Clever you! Fabulous card, my sweet friend!
Hugs galore,
~c

Oh goodness, Bev ... this fabulous CASE of Lynn's card was so worth all the 'bleccchhh' cards (as though you'd make anything resembling an ugly card!), it's gorgeous ... that single sweet bloom is just a delight! How deliciously CAS are your arrows, stars and sequins ... love how the sentiment is all 'branchy' ... brilliant take on the inspiration! Always so happy to have you play along with us at Time Out ... and thanks so much for your lovely words! Do hope John is feeling better ... sending healing and happy thoughts across the pond, sweet friend! Missing you ... bisous, bisous, Anita :)
