Back Home

I know it's Wednesday. But I had a really, really long weekend full of work and travel, and more work. It took me until today for my body to catch up on its rest. Saturday was at our church's monthly Scrap and Stamp event, which is open to the public and runs from noon till 7pm. My sister Sue, niece Jackie, and friend Terry all came, along with several other ladies. Super nice to visit with everyone. Usually I pick out a project or two, play and chat all day. This time, I brought only the food for snacks and dinner, and cleaning supplies. My Sunday school room is at the back of our Fellowship Hall, it's closed off, and runs the width of the hall. After a full semester of classes back there, and several parties, the time had come for some serious cleaning. Just couldn't stand the thought of those little girls wearing their pretty dresses and sitting in those chairs anymore. Sure was happy at the end of the day. Nice and clean with time to visit with everyone. When I got home, it was time to pack up the last of my gear. Early Sunday morning, I left for my sister's house and then the two of us continued on to my dad's place "up north". After unloading and chatting with dad for about a half an hour, Sue and I got to work. Dad's living room and kitchen needed a good painting, as did the ceiling! Since he lives in a senior complex, it's not that big. Between my dad "supervising", sister Lisa cleaning the bathroom spotlessly and fixing lunch for us all, my ex bil helping out, somehow we managed to get it all done. Next month, it's painting his bathroom. It was nice to be with my family like that. Like whirlwinds we flew and so did the stories and laughter! We left on Monday and I got home just as the snow was starting to make driving interesting. Beside a few things around the house and a trip to the grocery store yesterday, all I did was veg out. I did look at all of your blogs, and saw the wonderful creations you made, but the old brain was too tired to make coherent comments.

Today, I am back on track for the most part. Saw the new CASology cue card, 'contrast', and got 9/10ths of a ping. Most of this card was QAEZPZ, except for the finishing touch. Nothing was working. Took several searches and then it finally came together. This one fits the CAS-ual Fridays 'color blocks' theme too.

Sure wish it was a bright sunny day here so you could see that this is a pure bright white. Sorry about the photo quality. A Neenah white base, more scraps of black, white and pink. I used my W Plus 9 circle dies (love them), then split the circles. Flipped the circles and added the little pink strips underneath and found an old sticker in my stash. The main panel is 3 3/4" wide, by 5 1/2" long, and is popped up on the base. Black and white together like this is definitely contrasting and also qualifies as color blocks. More contrast for the B&W is the glittery part of the sticker. I like this one. Happy dances everyone.

Oh, fun, I get to be first to welcome you back home, Bevie! I'm so glad to hear that everything went well during the "spiff up" of your Dad's place, that you had decent driving weather, and that you even had a lot of laughs! I'll bet you were plum worn out!

I also get to be the first to say how spectacular this card is, my friend! This is a winner for sure!!

I'm heading back to the couch to nurse my cold, but I've been away too long and had to stop in today and catch up! Hugs, Darnell

Oh, WOW! This is a fantastic card! Love the reversing white and black and the peeks of silver and hot pink! Thanks for joining us at CASology (and for sharing the story - glad you had a great time - I would be vegging for a little more than a day after all that, I'm sure!)

Sounds like you had a great visit with family.

I know what you mean about not having any good sunlight for photos. I live in New England and we seem to have more gloomy days than sunny ones.

Love your very COOL graphic card!

So happy you had a fun (if exhausting) time, and that you got back safely before the weather got silly. You deserved to veg out after all that! Anita :)

This is a stunning card, Bev. It reminds me of my granddaughter's wedding as these were her colors. It sounds like you had a wonderful, exhausting time with family and that's wonderful.

I love it! Your card is such a clean, geometric, design it almost looks like a digital sketch that someone would post as challenge inspiration. Very nice.

Geez that was a busy time! You are so giving and I love that you are close to your family like that and help :) Although I so appreciate the comments, I think they are bonus, not required and you deserve a rest. Commenting or blog viewing shouldn't feel like a job, its fun! and so is this card. It's the glitter that had me smiling...glitter is my favorite!

Whoa, now that was a lot of work! But so worth it. Helping family always leaves a good feeling in one's heart, and even more so when it comes with a lot of fun and laughter too! Glad you took a little rest to re-energize, and boy I see where you put that energy - what a FAB card!!! Love the vibrancy and of course, the contrast!
Oh, and btw, I read Susan's blog about the butterfly farts and nearly fell over laughing! Too bad I read it AFTER I added the "fart"!! Smacking head now!!

You've got a winner here dear friend! This is OUT OF THIS WORLD retro cool! You absolutely nailed the "Contrast" challenge (totally a 10/10 on the ping scale).

The bit of silver sparkle is 'brilliant' and I LOVE the sentiment stamp! Huge WOW factor with this clever design!

Big virtual hugs that you're home safely and that you and your sister made your dad's world sparkle so much more with your visit, as well as your hard work. When you're doing things 'with heart' the results are always rewarding; I'm sure your dad is missing your companionship. Good to know a 'soon' trip is in the works. As for your card: how fresh, vibrant and all around delightful! Your bit of a break, a chance to refresh and voila...gorgeous magic happens! LOVE this! Hugs~c
