Another birthday card

Next week is my dear son Tad's birthday. And yes, that's his real name, his whole name (not Thaddeus). He is absolutely wonderful. Dear child, and the kind of son every mother hopes her son will grow up to be. I could gush all day, but I'll end all this gushing by just saying that Tad is a blessing.

So I made a card for him. And I like it.

I popped into CASology earlier this week, and came up with ziltch. Nada. Zip. Nothing. Then a little something...nah.... Today a ping  went off. Got it. It fits! It'll work. I can play along with CASology!!

This is my darling son's birthday card:

It's a matchbook!  The bottom part kept popping open, so it looks a little lame. So much better irl...another bad photo *sigh*. And here's the inside:

The 'striker' part of the matchbook covers the very bottoms of the candles. If I were having a better photography day, I'd show you that part. But, it just isn't working for me.
I cut a strip of kraft into a 4x11 panel, and scored on the 1" and 5" marks, then folded it into the matchbook shape. Blue (and it's more of an aqua color than the photo shows...darn it all!) letters cut with MB Parker alpha dies. MME enamel dots. Unknown candle stamps, could be HA...Memento and Studio G inks. Random scrap of yellow cardstock 'flames' and a touch of stickles. Wplus9 inside sentiment. And that's all. Happy dances everyone

Now THAT'S a ping-and-a-half, my friend! What a clever take on the cue card and the perfect birthday card, especially for someone who needs more and more candles lit! lol! Thanks so much for playing along with us at CASology this week!

How totally clever, I would never have thought of a match'book' in a thousand years, and I know that your son is going to love it!

Ok, I am in Darnell's camp...matchbook is about as clever as it gets. So fun and very unexpected too. Love the candles inside too, fabulous way to say Happy Birthday!

Oh you clever, CLEVER girl!!! Seriously, never in a million years would I have thought of such an ingenious interpretation of the cue word....nor would I have been able to put this card together so bang-on perfectly with the theme! The candles in lieu of match sticks inside the card - WAAAAAAY BEYOND CLEVER! He is going to be so thrilled with his card made by hand with love from your heart!

CLEVER ... check. INSPIRED ... check. PING ... double check. WINNER ... triple check!! Sooo utterley amazing, Bev, talk about being creative, I'm so taken with this I'm almost speechless (a very rare occurence!). A truly fantastic idea, brilliantly executed... Tad is going to adore it (as no doubt he adores his wonderful Mum!) Anita :)

Eeee...a matchbox card! Perfect for your Tad! Love the 'surprise' of candles inside! Yes - this is going on my 'must try' list (because I'm much better at folding than watercolouring, splattering, stamping with masks...). Delightful+++
