Twofer Challenge #34

Happy New Year! Whew! We made it to 2021, and I hope it will be much better than last year! Ten days in, and a new challenge up on the Twofer Challenge blog certainly helps, doesn't it?! What a good way to kick off a new year, if you ask me. Our prompt for this month is:

Being a bit, just a teeny bit mind you, anal retentive about stamp organization, I checked out the number of stamp sets I have which contain the tag "flower/flowers" on my Evernote account. Um, would you believe there are at least 70?! Let me show you which one I went with:

Stamp? Where? Well, technically the set I used has this sweet flower stamp, but I just used the flower die for this Twofer pair...I love the whimsical look of that little bloom! Here's a closer look at each one:

For the yellow birthday card, I hit the scrap files again, and found a proper length, but a skinnier bit of yellow cardstock. Hmmmmm...what to do? Use as is, and have those white flowers balance the white skinnier bit opposite. I added black bling to the flower centers, and a chunk of black beneath the sentiment. Pretty EZPZ, and scrap files ever-so-slightly culled! The flowers are from The Stamp Market, and the sentiment is from Hero Arts.

I got my 'girl' on for card number two. Again, I hit the scrap file (and yes, it's actually a file drawer filled with accordion folders sorted by colored cardstock and colored patterned papers) and scored! That pink and green patterned paper is ancient, but I love it. It reminds me of a blouse my mom made for me as part of an Easter outfit when I was little. I also dug for scraps in coordinating colors. The sentiment is from WPlus9, the frame is from MFT, as is the scalloped circle, and there are those sweet flowers from The Stamp Market. A little bling, and done!

Two different cards, two different occasions, and I like the way they turned out. The concept of Twofer really stretches the use of stamps and dies, and I really love that! What will you make? Now that you've seen my cards, head on over to The Twofer Challenge, and check out what my teamies have made, along with cards by our Guest Designers Viv and Brenda. Then grab your flower stamps and dies and get creative! See you in the gallery. And as always...

Yellow, black and white ... what a gorgeous combo, Bev ... those sweet little flowers really pop against the bold blocks of colour! How pretty is that background paper on your second card ... what a perfect choice to go with your framed little bejewelled posy! Yummy twofer, my friend! Missing you ... big hugs and bisous, Anita :)

I have had the same problems as you, which flower stamp, die or stencil to use. :-) Your decision was great! I like the simple design on the first card and great color combo of white, yellow and black. The second card is so festive with the delicate patterned paper, frame and pink flowers.
Have a great year 2021!
Hugs, Sonja

It's so exciting to be thinking about flowers and spring. Your cards are welcoming spring so well. Bright yellow is perfect and I love the pattern paper you used on your second card with the sweet pink blooms.

Yellow, black and white is such a cheerful color combination, Bev! I love the sunshiny feel of this card! Love that pretty designer paper. I think I had a sundress made from similar fabric at one time! Just as cheerful and so feminine!

You really do make the sweetest cards, Bevie! Even when you aren't going all-out girlie-girlie, there is always a loving sweet component and that's so apparent with these two darling floral designs! Lucky are the recipients!! You did a great job using your pp and inspiring everyone with the design concept of TCC! Keep taking care! Love and hugs, Darnell

Only 70 stamp sets with flowers???? I think you need to go shopping Bev!! Haha! I think I've got you beat, but then I do have a bit of shopping problem! But anyway, LOVE both of your simple but bright and FUN cards Bev! Of course you nailed it for me with the yellow and then black & white...that card just totally speaks to me my friend!! SOOOOO cheerful!! And your girlie card is just as pretty and the pp reminds me of an outfit my mom made for my Tammy (she came out around the same time as Barbie) doll one Christmas. Isn't it funny how certain things bring back such good memories?! Hope you're doing well and staying safe my friend! Sending lots of hugs across the lake!! :0)

My oh my, Bev! I love that whimsical flower and it's so perfect on both of your cards! It's cool how you balanced the white flowers with the white strip on your birthday card. I can just see little Bev in her Easter outfit with that patterned paper blouse! Better than my polyester 1970s Easter outfits as a kid!

Two sweet cards using that adorable flower die, Bev! I love the bright yellow with the white flowers ... so sunny, bright and happy! Such pretty paper for your second card. Lovely "girly" card with all the beautiful flowers. First, congrats for having all your stamps listed on Evernote. It's a huge amount of work to organize! I started, but gave up before getting too far. 70 flowers cards ... you sound like me. Everytime I go stamp shopping, I always looks at the flower images first .. and buy! :) xx
