Twofer Challenge #22 ~ With A Twist!

Ok....How did we get to November already???! Since I feel like I missed pretty much all of summer, I think we should go back to say, July, right about now. Except that I love Thanksgiving and here in the States, we'll be celebrating together with family pretty soon. My little grandchildren love coming to Grandma's house for this holiday. It's all about the pie. We usually have at least seven different kinds, (this year it'll be pumpkin, butterscotch, lemon meringue, key lime, chocolate cream, apple, and vanilla cream) and trust me, they don't last! So I guess that since we're here in November, and family will descend soon, it's all good! And speaking of "good," it's time for the Twofer Card Challenge, where it's time to get all festive and such!

And as a quick reminder, here is a synopsis of the rules:

But wait!!!! We have a twist for you this time around...

Normally our rules state that you must use the same stamp, die, or stencil and make two different designs for two different occasions. Because so many of us are madly working on Christmas cards, for this month only, we are forgoing the "for two different occasions" element of Twofer, so you may enter two Christmas or other holiday occasion cards!

So it's up to you!

You can make two different designs using the same prompt element for two different occasions; OR you can make two different designs using the same prompt element for the same occasion!!

All the other rules of the challenge apply. If you have any questions about specifics of the challenge, please take a few minutes to review the updated Definitions/Examples on the Twofer blog, so you'll be eligible to win. We appreciate your enthusiasm and support and want to see you stretch your stamps, stencils, dies, and design skills!

Also, a reminder that there will be no Twofer Card Challenge in December. Happy Holidays to all of you from all of us!

Holiday greenery...EZPZ for my first card, but for a few minutes, I'll admit I was stumped as to what to make for my second card. Should I do the 'twist,' or stick with two different designs? I did a little hemming and hawing, and then....voila! Decided to go with two different designs/occasions. My baby turns the big 4-0 next month! Perfect! He'll get a kick out of the skinny version of me handing him a new number! I can't wait to see how you'll inspire everyone with your creations. You will be playing along, right?! Good!

My duo looks like this:

And individually:

So for my Christmas card, I used a couple of NBUS goodies to start things off. After trimming some strips at 3/4" for my siding, I grabbed the EH Winter Window and die cut the window and the snow. It needed a little snowy glittery goodness, so I used SSS Unicorn Dust. I cut a panel for the "inside" of the house, and added a hardwood floor which is one stamp of a set by The Ink Blot Shop. The holly is from the Baker Lady set by Ellen, and I stamped and colored several and made a wreath. The bows I cut just looked cluttery, so I left it off. The sentiment is also EH.

My son's birthday card also uses the EH Baker Lady (the skinny me...hahahaha), and the holly. The apron was stamped and I added holly to give her a festive look, and then I fussy cut the apron and adhered it to the image. The numbers are from N&T, and cut in gold with more holly behind them. The sentiment is a C9, and the birthday boy will probably agree with it! The panel was cut with The Greetery's Crimped Frame Die, and adhered to a deep green panel.

I love that that little tiny holly sprig became the focal point. And I can't wait to see what 'holiday greenery' cards you make. Come and join the fun! Oh!...be sure to stop by and see what the rest of the Twofer Design Team, and our lovely Guest Designer, Nancy has created. You'll be amazed! And as always...

These are my very favorite Twofers you've ever made, Bevie! I am so in love with that apron, I want to have one made so I can wear it! It is a genius design from top to bottom and your 40 yo son (how did THAT happen?!) will cherish it! And I love your Christmas wreath hanging in the w-o-w window with the icicles on top! You know, come to think of it, I have a window die and a NBUS icicle die ... thank you for the icy design idea!! Hugs, Darnell

Oh my goodness Bev, before I read your post my tummy was very satisfied now it craves yummy pies especially at the point you mentioned lemon meringue but its 10.15pm lol... so naughty but oh so scrummy. Your twofer cards are brilliant, genius with how you used the holly. Your son is going to love his fun birthday card and I hope you all enjoy some precious time together over Thanksgiving x

What a wonderful December birthday card, I am so grateful I am a 'June' baby, I don't have to share my birthday with anyone (but winter lol).

Beautiful holly wreath design and I also love how you used the same holly to create a wonderful birthday card design. The holly on her apron is a great idea.

Bev, what a fabulous set of cards. That apron is so much fun and what a great birthday card. Love love love this. YOur wreath is brilliant and you really rocked the greenery!

Oh, Bev, talking about those pies... my mouth is watering! I've never had a butterscotch pie. Thanksgiving is such a lovely holiday, I think. You've made two of the prettiest cards! The window with that dainty wreath and the icicles overhead suggests a cozy scene inside. In fact, the birthday card shows what is probably going on inside right now! I love the sentiment and the cute (skinny you) baker. You played well with this challenge!

Oh my goodness, it IS you! That's so cool! Both of your cards are so fantastic...as per usual!

BTW, those pies all sounds super scrumptious! Save me a slice, please! haha

Oh my, what a brilliant twofer, Bev! All that crisp, fresh, snowy white on white on your first design is simply gorgeous ... the 'wood' floor through the window is a fabulous touch ... and that bright festive wreath really pops against it all! Adore your LL apron ... what a genius way to use the prompt ... love how the holly and berries also made their way around the numbers for baby's birthday!!! Those pies sound scrumptious (and will be if you're making them!) ... I'll just leap into the teleporter and pop across to join in the fun ... and enjoy a tasting ... or seven! Missing you in the meantime, my sweet friend ... big hugs and bisous, Anita :)

The wreath hanging in the window is quintessential Christmas, Bev. The December birthday card is very creative. You did good!!

Such a great idea so use that holly on her apron and as a wreath! That cold frosty window looks like mine today. I love how you put the number 40 in her (your) hand - so clever!

Love the holly on your apron and your clever design! Such a great idea! I am sure your son will love that card! My son was also born in December so I agree with that sentiment! As for the second card...I love the window with the frost hanging down. Thanks for having me this month at Twofer!

Your twofer is just brilliant in how you created both cards! I love that you added siding to the wall where the window is, and flooring inside the window too! Such detail is amazing, not to mention that gorgeous sparkly snow-laden window with a pretty wreath! The apron on the birthday card is so cleverly done with the wreath bits-making a festive December birthday with Mamma making pies! BTW, I'd love a piece of that lemon meringue pie :) I haven't made a pie in ages and that's always been my favorite :)

Wow - I want to come to your house for pie!!! I am utterly incompetent at baking. My children say that I can ruin the pre-made cookie dough that you just break off and bake - and they are right!!

LOVE the holly. Layering it for the wreath on the window is a lovely look. And how fun to add it to the baker lady's apron and the number!

Can I come to your house for Thanksgiving??!! Oh my, 7 different kinds of pie??!! My taste buds are already salivating!! But I digress...I came here for your lovely, lovely cards! I just love your window card Bev...it totally reminds me of my childhood home where we always had icicles hanging from our windows! Never could understand why my dad hated them so much when my brothers and I loved nothing more than picking them off and sucking on them...sounds gross now as an adult, but hey, we lived to tell about it! Haha!! And your birthday card for your son is FABULOUS! I love your holly apron and I want one too! And how clever to be handing your son his new number! You totally aced this challenge Bev...loved them both!! Hugs. :0)

Two fabulous cards, Bev! Just love your wreath card and, oh my, that bday card - adorable! Amazing how you used the little sprigs to go on the apron and in the 40 - so clever!!

What a brilliant way to show how versatile that little holly sprig is Bev! The wreath is beautiful but oh my! The holly sprigged apron is pure genius! Vicky x
