Going Literal

I saw that the new challenge was up at Time Out. It has a really cool photo inspiration, and it makes my eyes happy. Structure. Lines. Rectangles. Curves. Deep color. That's what my brain saw and then it smiled. Brain said, "You can do this. Go on...give it a try." And what do you know, a card was born! First try. No rippies-uppies. No feeding the recycle bin. It's masculine-ish too, which is something I wanted to do more of this year. Might get to another yellow card later, as yellow is still screaming "use me!!!!," so I might have to obey. We'll see. Oh! And Addicted To Stamps And More are doing a CAS this time. This one is very CAS...so I'll play there too.

I also wanted to play again at the Double D Challenge, as I can squeak in another gingham card. It turned out quite nicely, and is a good girlie card.

Up first is a very CAS card. We've had weird light today, and while the white base looks a bluish gray, it's actually bright white. Sorry.

I scored a line at 3/4" to make the rectangle. I cut the stripes with an EH Skinny Stripes die in navy blue, and the gold half circle with two WPlus9 circle dies. The sentiment is from W&W and is stamped in navy blue. Can you tell how I was inspired? Check the walls of the inspiration photo, the pillow, and the coffee table. A pretty literal interpretation, but I like it. Looks really cool irl.

Here's my girly gingham card:

I cut a pretty blue gingham paper from MFT with a ME scalloped edge die. I used an MFT scalloped circle die for the flowery bit, and a plain circle to help it pop. The sentiment is a new die by Card Deco, and I love its size. I added a few black blings and called it good. Works for me. Going to run, but you all have a great weekend. And as always...

Bev some days I really believe your vibe comes across our salt-free pond ... I honestly used the same W&W sentiment set yesterday!
I'm so drawn to the paneling in this photo - don't be surprised if you see something similar popping into that gallery!
Gorgeous times two... I adore the gingham - but whose flowery bits are these? LOve that print!!!

Wow Bev, I love where your eye and cleverness took you with those inspiration photo's!!! Yes, with the first card I can see where you drew inspiration from. You are a clever gal to "see" this card, which I am totally loving!!! The CAS of it, the design of it-it just has me falling in love with it! A great masculine card, but then again I think it could work for anyone! I love gingham so I am totally in love with your second card too. I love the gingham and flowers together-who knew?! You did! This card just makes me feel happy! Hugs, Brenda

Your little gingham card is definitely girlie, Bev, and oh so cute. The other card blew me away with how you used the various elements in the "Home Sweet Home" photo. I love the way you scored the panel and cutting that half circle of gold was brilliant. As the guest designer, I want to thank you for sharing your card at Time Out.

I am SO bad at basic graphic cards. This is wonderful!! Fun and interesting - with a bit of celebration in the gold. And I adore the gingham - so perfect with that patch of flowers!

Two amazing cards but the CAS card speaks volumes with the circle and the lines, I see a porthole and a sailors suit so I see myself on a cruise liner! Thanks for sharing your beautiful creations with us at Addicted to Stamps and More and I hope to see more of them soon. Hugs, Gwendolyn
