Twofer Challenge #8

Well here it is August already, and we're all set for this month's Twofer Challenge, are you?!! The Design Team has come up with awesome cards, as have our Guest Designers Cheryl and Brenda. I can't wait to see where this month's prompt takes you! I had so many ideas, both conventional and unconventional, but chose to go with the ping that popped into my brain (or in this case, a double ping!!). You're going to love this prompt, I promise!!

I know, right...!!! Tons of ways to go with this one! Here's where my pings took me:

Did you know that triangles are the strongest shape found in nature? Yep. It's because any added force is evenly spread to all three sides. Little bit of trivia for you today...
As you can see, I went 'conventional' with my cards.

For my birthday card, I used various scraps of papers to cut my triangles with MFT dies, as well as some MFT striped paper, a ME rectangle die, and a HA sentiment. Using the same size triangle as the blue one at the top, I cut four more from more scraps, added a 'hooray' from W&W for my second (congratulatory) card, all on an AE rectangle popped up on some fun foam to give it a bit of  dimension. Two different cards for two different occasions using the same die on both cards. I wish you could see these in real life; they look pretty darn good if I do say so myself.

It's your turn now. I'd love to see what you make with 'geometric' shapes! Go forth and create!! I'm scheduled to have a cardiac procedure in a few days, but hope that it's just a quickie and that I can get to commenting on all your cards soon afterwards. Take care, and as always...

So delicious, Bev ... both of them! Cool, crisp, stylish and oh so chic ... they'd be at home framed and hanging on a wall in a sophisticated boutique! You know you're already in my prayers, mon amie ... thinking of you! Big hugs & bisous, Anita :)

Thanks for the information about triangles. I love the hooray card with a fun design and the birthday card is bright and those sweet teeny triangles.

Hope all is getting better for you, my friend!
Sending hugs and prayers,

Beautiful cards Bev. There's something wonderful about triangles and you have shown them off to perfection with your two designs.

All the best with your procedure Bev. Sending love, hugs and prayers to you!

First of all, Bevie, thinking of you and saying prayers that your procedure goes smoothly tomorrow and corrects the idiotsyncracy you are dealing with! Don't forget to let us know how it goes and take a teasy after wards!! As for your triangle cards, they are superb! I love that one is very symmetrical and strong and how you have three of the triangles standing on their heads in celebration of whoever gets the Hooray! And I love that the other one is artsy and random and organic and filled somehow with patterns that go well together! Actually, now that I look again, I'm thinking it wasn't random at all, but rather you spent a while placing them "just so" because the layout is very thoughtful. Well done!! Love and lots of hugs, Darnell

What fun cards for this challenge Bev! I love where your "ping" took you on these. The first card is amazing, love those papers you used, especially that black/navy striped paper. It just makes those triangles pop! Such a fun birthday card! The second card is equally fun and artsy! I love the colors of your triangles on this one and then that little "hooray". How fun! You are a clever gal Bev! Hugs, Brenda

Triangles are not only the strongest but one of the most interesting, Bev, as you can make so many other things from them. I'm thinking quilts but also wonderful birthday and celebration cards like yours. I'm praying the procedure went well and you are doing fine.

Thanks for your lovely comment Bev and, as you are back to visiting I hope that means that everything went well with the procedure. I love your use of triangles, and the bold stripes together with the stitched mat on one as a background, and the pretty die cut edge on the other. Very clever designs and a great mix of colours. x

Clever use of the triangles, and I love the simplicity of #2, so clean & with the pop of color on each shape. #1 was my fav though. I loved the bold striped background with that very arty yellow triangle, which also had some neat geometric designs on it. Liked the little detail of the additional triangles in differing sizes for the birthday card. Lots of interest as well as brilliant design. TFS
