I actually do have a couple of cards to share. This really isn't just a whiney post about embossing...Both cards will go into Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge blog, and one will go solely into OWL165 - No Red/Green found this week over at Ardyth's blog, MASKerade.
Now this is a crummy photo...you can't see the sparkle from the Ranger holographic embossing powder I used on this card. And it's bland looking here too. But I think you get the idea. IRL, it's pretty pretty. The stamps are from My Cute Stamps, Memento pink ink, and Jenni Bowlen gray ink. One layer. Might try this in aqua without the embossing....
Next up is my second card for Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge:
To quote Darnell, this card was a "QACAS", (quick and clean and simple). The paper are scraps (!), the stamps are from ME, LF, and NN. I used black SU ink for the sentiment and line, and pink HA for the little heart. For such an easy card, I used three different stamp sets, and just a bit from each one. Still, it's kind of nice to get good use out of them. And that's all I've got for today. Do a little Friday happy dance today!

Oh dear! Did you wrap your chipboard in foil? I also find that if you hold your heat gun further away, it takes longer, but warps less. Notice "less". Usually if you can leave the card for a while, it relaxes and is fine. I love the pretty colours and the sparkle! Thanks for joining us at OLW this week!

Amazing cards Bev! Despite your um...issues with embossing, the end result was well worth the stress! Gorgeous snowflakes, gorgeous sentiment and gorgeous colors! Beautifully soft & pretty!
Card #2 accomplished its mission...brought a big smile to my face all the way up here in north central Manitoba! The cloud paper is gorgeous...the dotted line and heart/envelope is just so dang cute!

Love both cards! I have a thing for sparkle, and for wee little hearts, so these are making me smile all over! What doesn't make me smile?!! I'm with you - I just hate the warping!! I watch so many videos, and it never seems to happen to the experts!! Why oh why does it keep happening to me?!!!
I hate er...dislike heat embossing too!!!
Keep your heat tool farther away from your image. Once you see the powder melting, turn the paper over and finish embossing on the "bottom". This helps with warping. I also grab each end and kind of make it do the wave, while it cools down. Stop in the store for a demo. feel better soon.
Warping? Yep, yuk ... but I don't see any here, Bev, just soft, delicate, shimmery snowflakes ... quite splendid! Fabulous QACAS too ... you have such a knack for putting 'scraps' together so beautifully ... love the little heart flying over those clouds! Anita :)
I intensely liked your discussion of intensely dis-liking embossing! I'm with you: frustrating process, mainly because I'm a klutz! My issue is powder that doesn't stick, because my stamping is atrocious. Grrr...Your card, however, reveals no flaws whatsoever; only splendid beauty! Your second card: LOVE it! ok....I don't understand your hate, I mean dislike of heat embossing. I am guessing I have been pretty lucky and have not had any issues yet, and will keep my fingers crossed that this continues. Your cards are amazing but they always are, heat embossed or not.
My trouble with heat embossing run more toward specks and flecks, even when I use a powder bag. Sometimes I heat the card again from the back after embossing the front - it sort of warps the other way, making it straight. The card looks lovely as is.
Your "sending smiles" is a wonderful design, Bev. Just perfect.
