Happy Birthday to My Sister Sue!

So....Sue, if you see this before next week and our lunch date with Miss Emma. Stop reading right now. No peeking at your card. Or I'll make a switch and give you an ugly one (hahahahahaha).

Oh I wish you could all meet my sister. She's one of the best people in the whole wide world. Girl can sing, cook, craft, decorate, and is the second best grandma ever (I'm first, lol). Her birthday was yesterday, and I want to celebrate her a little bit. Next week, we're taking little Emma, Sue's almost three-year old granddaughter, out for lunch - she'll have chips and salsa, we'll have tamales and such. Emma loves chips and salsa! Then we're taking her out to buy paper. Sue and I are doing our best to help her become a craftaholic, and I think we're succeeding! It will be nice to have a birthday lunch... I need your help though. Do I call ahead to the restaurant and tell them it's her birthday and we'd like them to put on the sombreros and sing real loud?! Let me know what your vote is, and I'll let you know what we end up doing! You'd better not be reading this Susan....or I'll tell dad!

I struggled with her birthday card a bit. Made three yesterday, and hated each one of them. Literally threw one together today with the scraps from two of the cards, and like the way it came out!! Who knew???? Just works out that way sometimes.

And as luck or fate or whatever has it, I can pop this into three challenges! Woohooooooo!! ColorQ Challenge, CAS(E) This Sketch, and Curtain Call Challenge.

I kept this card very simple, but managed to use all the colors at ColorQ, and the CTS sketch.

I wish you could see this in real life. It's so much more pretty and delicate than this photograph shows. Made with scraps, scraps, and more scraps. Die cut heart from my Silhouette, an MFT notebook die for the scrap of SC vellum, and a scrap I think I got from Amy Tsuruta. A SSS sentiment with black versafine ink. And that's about it. Am going to run now, and watch my Cubbies lose to St. Louis today. But that's okay; the Cubs have won the first two games of this series. I won't be greedy! (yet).

Yes, make some noise, it's a fiesta! I hope you have a wonderful time, I know she will love her card! It is soft and beautiful and I love how it was thrown together from the other trials.

The card is beautiful Bev and she'll love it.

Yes you must phone ahead so they sing and wear sombreros. The family did this for my hubby when we visited Canada one year and went out for his birthday. We'd never experienced it before and hubby was a bit shy but it was great fun. Can't remember the name of the place though.

Anyway have a wonderful time with Sue and Emma. Barbxx

Yup, loud singing is obligatory - preferably accompanied by whistles, stomping and any other noise you can think of! Love your thrown-together card and how it meets the challenges!

I think vellum can turn any card into something special, Bev, and you did with your card of sisterly love. A lot of times I just tell the hostess on the QT about a birthday but calling ahead doesn't hurt either. Just have fun.

How lucky you are to have such a sweet and wonderful sister, a real blessing. Sweet card, love your use of the vellum too, just so soft and pretty. Thanks so much for playing along with us at ColourQ!

Ohhh, this is so sweet and pretty!! Love it! And I'm sure your sister will love it, too! ;)
Also, I'd say either call and tell them it's her birthday or just let them know upon arriving...tell your sister you need to use the restroom and try to find your waitress/waiter and let them know it's her birthday. ;) Have fun!!

Yes to the sombrero and loud singing...(wink)
What a beautiful card, love the vellum. I didn't grow up with a sister but love having all of my crafty sisters.

Beautiful card Bev, can see it looks soft and delicate. She will love it. She has to be a good sister not to read the whole post, I would not be able to share anything cause my sister always wants to know everything before it happens. She would not be able to resist reading. Of course as her sister you must call ahead and organise this surprise. Thats what sisters are for, enjoy.

The card is wonderful and I'm sure that Sue will love it! I especially love the bits of vellum - vellum makes the world go 'round in my book! And I totally vote for calling ahead and insisting on sombreros for everyone! What's a sister for if not causing a spectacle in public?

Happy birthday to your sister. Your card is wonderful. Love how you used our colors. I'm sure the lunch is all eaten and cleaned up by now, so I hope that whatever you decided--sing or not--worked out just show you wanted. Thanks so much for playing along at ColourQ this week.

OH, Bev, I'm sure your sister loved this sweet card. I love how the darling heart pops against the white, and love the vellum die-cut panel.

Your lunch plans sure sound like fun! (You crack me up.) Sisters are the best. Enjoy!

First things first...you would NOT find an ugly card in your stash...unless it was a tacky store bought card!!!

Sue is going to love this card! Hmmm....I wonder if she peeked??? Your 'scraps, scraps and scraps' strategy worked as this is stunning! The bit of velum creates such a soft feel to your card. Absolutely Bee-u-ti-ful!!!

I love the soft, delicate feel of this card, with the teal blue muted in the background! Thrown together from scraps? Man, I can't say that's ever worked for me! Meanwhile I'll keep trying and maybe when I grow up I'll be as talented as you! Have a wonderful Birthday with sister and little one...
