I don't make many...

...Christmas cards. Isn't that funny for a card maker? I quit sending out Christmas cards several years ago when we topped the 150 mark; it just got too expensive. That was well before I started making cards, and I'm really fussy. No 'el cheapo' cards were ever bought! And the other thing about the cards was, that Christmas cards should be about the true meaning of Christmas; the celebration of Christ our Redeemer's birth. The card you're about to see is a "winter" card, which DH will send to one of his friends over the holidays. He likes to have a few 'non-religious' cards on hand. Yep, he still sends out a few cards. But enough of that...

Now. Don't ask me where or how I found this brand new challenge blog, but hanging out in blogland, I stumbled across this one:  Stamplorations Bi-Weekly Challenge Blog. I found the sketch to be intriguing, and thought I'd play along. I'm really pleased that I did too. There's nothing like finding a new challenge and inviting your friends to join you for its inauguration. Head over to check it out, then play along! Here is the sketch:

My card looks like this:

This is quite a mixed lot of supplies. White Bazzill base and snow, which was embossed with a LC folder. SU stamps from a set my sister Sue (hi Sue!) gave me eons ago. Jenny Bowlin ink, W Plus 9 circle dies, an olllldddd top hat sticker, craft ribbon from Michaels (thanks Geri!), Cloud 9 'buttons' on Mr. Snowman, and the face I drew my own darn self (that, my friends, is the extent of my artistic ability!). I popped the little fella up on some pop dots, and called it good. I think DH will like this. So. To all my Canadian friends, have a safe and blessed Thanksgiving. And everyone should be happy dancing today - it's Friday! Woohoo!

You nailed this sketch. The hat, scarf and the look on his face is so sweet! Great winter card! I still send mine out (around 50), but I spend way more time on the (300) Church cards and the (80)cards I make for a friend, who never remembers to ask me until December 1! lol! Heading to my mom's for thanksgiving dinner this weekend! And now, I'm just about ready to happy dance right into my bed!

He's happy dancing, with that fabulous smiley expression on his face and his cosy attire, Bev ... he brought a smile to my face too! Yes, yes, yes for Christmas cards ... I do a single (appropriate for the wonderful celebration that it is) design and image for all my cards ... don't have hundreds to do at all, but I always seem to be at the last minute getting them done! Anita :)

I love this Bev! Look at that little smile on his face! You brave one to to the drawing!!!
Almost none of the last few cards I have send to SA didn't arrive at their destinations... Just makes me wonder if I should send Christmas cards this year???

There is absolutely no way anyone else is going to come this close to the absolute PERFECT interpretation of a sketch! Kudos to you dear friend for instantly seeing a 'snowman' in that drawing...especially his hat!!!
As for the face, he looks just as happy as you always are! You really did bring him to life with the sweet little animated smile! The SU Happy Winter is one of my favs...it always seems to be just the right size!

So now if this new challenge has a winner, this card will be in that circle for sure!!!

Glad you found some use for the ribbon :)

Hi, Bev. Love how you interpreted the sketch! The snowman with his cute smile, hat, and scarf makes for the perfect non-religious Christmas card. Thanks so much for playing at STAMPlorations and I'm glad you stumbled on our blog and decided to play along!

Thank you for the Thanksgiving wishes! We spent the weekend with my family, and of course, Aunty C had a chance to play! We're heading back this weekend (husband has meetings, so we *have* to go..yayyyy) and I already have the kids booked for ALL DAY Saturday! Your card here, well...adding my voice to the chorus chanting, "Winner, Winner!" Perfect take on the sketch, and more important, perfect image 'for' the sketch. How darling your snowman is, sporting his blue hat, red scarf and that oh-so-cute grin. LOVE this!! Stay tuned...note coming tomorrow or Thursday! Hugs to you - and off to scope out the new challenge you discovered.
