The Heat

I'm sure we all get tired of talking/hearing about the weather. After all, it's not like we don't all have one form of it or another... It's not that hot here today; 82ish by the big Lake, but the sun is relentless! The heat got to DH while I went to church this morning. Normally, because of some of his health issues, he's sitting with a blanket or throw on, topped by a heating pad even on most summer days. Today he's hot, and doesn't feel well. So I'm going to try and get this post done in one fell swoop, then if he doesn't require too much attention, get to a little commenting. Shall we get right to the cards, then? Okay...

I saw Carol's card for the newest Inkspirational Challenge where the prompt this time is "dip." She said she didn't have any chip-and-dip stamps to work with this but went in a different direction. Do stop over and see her card; it's a perfectly awesome take on the prompt. I did, however, have a stamp that was rather literal...

TA-DAAAAAA. It makes me chuckle... A few chunks of brightly colored scrap cardstock, some Copic markers, some MFT dies, one ME die, and some Newton's Nook stamps. EZCHEESY!!!!! Hahahahahahaha. Sorry... Well, maybe not...

I haven't played along at Tag You're It for some time, and I really, really wanted to. Stuck. Mr. Mojo wasn't having it. No amount of cajoling worked for two days. Then I had a ping. Pulled out an old, (and now out of business) TAWS set and finally made something to my satisfaction:

The aforementioned, (now there's a word for you...) flowers are a TAWS set. The sentiment is N&T, colored with Copics, an SC tag, some random, fat gold cording, an ancient piece of SU dp, and a created, golden glittery hole protector. You should see it in real life.... And because it's "Flowers" at Uniko, I'm going to sneak this in there too. After all, when the owner and designer is named "Bev," it's kind of a neato thing!

And lastly, I've got a birthday card for a very, very special son-in-law. He's the kind of man who will drop everything if we need help. And while that's cool, he's also a great person, and dad to four of the nicest kids ever. I was inspired by the current sketch at FMS, and I'm also playing at SSSW where it's anything goes.

The patterned paper are just scraps, but I loved them. The sentiment is from PTI, and the succulent plant is from HA. I watercolored it with my Ziggies, and I like the way it turned out. Oh, the circle die is from MFT. And because he's calling, I'm running. Happy dances everyone.

Lovely cards, Bev! Each one is so special and it's great to see you around! Blessings to you and your hubby! Hope he recovers quickly...as the heat can be nasty.

Another wonderful trio of cards! The first one is so cute and makes me hungry, the second one is very pretty and doesn't show at all that your mojo was stuck, and the third one looks so cool with the two different pieces of patterned paper!
Hope your DH feels better now that the sun has gone down and it has cooled off!

Gee! Bev you can sure create a batch of cards on the fly!! I'm loving that hysterical Dip card : ) and your tag card is cute as a bugs ear!! My favorite, though is your last card. I would never have thought to add pp inside a circle cut like that! This is just so sweet!!!

Have a blessed day, friend!

Whoooo Hoooo! Not one...but three AH-MAZING cards for us to feast our eyes on! So nice to see that you managed a bit of 'you time' betwixt and between your other duties! 1st card - won't surprize you to hear that this one makes me smile real big! Tons of white space, awesome colors and a darling sentiment! 2nd card - Wow - took my breath away! Soft, dreamy and sooooooo pretty! 3rd card - totally rocks the guy card world! Adding in the bit of plaid into the circle is absolute genius!!! Lovin' all the white space too!

Your card arrived today at noon - Yay!!! Well worth the wait and mail person stalking cuz it is AMAZING in real life! Love that you personalized it with my name! Made my heart sing!

BTW...my b-day card from my sister-in-law (a 5 hour drive away) took 6 days to get here!!! A horse and pony would have made better time!

We volunteered at the Ukrainian Festival Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (12 - 14 hours each day) so needless to say, I'm pooped!

I hope your husband is feeling better. The weather here has finally gotten a bit better. I can stand the heat but the HUMIDITY is what has been horrible!! I love winter (except for having to work, LOL!)

I am loving your cards that you created. That first card, though is just adorable!!! I am now going to have to find that stamp!!! I really like the gold cording on the second card with that adorable tag. I am going to have to CASE that someday. I like your patterned paper choices on your third card. You did a great job flipping that sketch.

Wishing you a fabulous day!!

Goodness, three amazing cards and I hardly know where to start! First: cheese dip. Can't go wrong there. Second: tag. Can't go wrong there either. I've got some of that SU dp too and I've probably got that TAWS set around somewhere. Kudos to you for digging old stuff from your stash and making new, great things with it! Third: lovely, warm colors. Always a hit in my book. Your hens and chicks are colored so beautifully!

Wow, I am loving all of these fabulous cards Bev!!! I got such a kick out of the chip n' dip card! The bold colors are just perfect with this stamped image, which I think is just fabulous as is the sentiment. Your tag card is so beautiful. I love that little vase of flowers stamp, so cute! Love how you placed it on your background, which I love the paper you used for it, with the gold cording. Very elegant little card! But it is the last one you made that I am totally smitten with!I love the papers, the sketch and that succulent that you have colored up so fabulously!!! I think your sweet SIL will love it too. Yes even with temps being low, that sun can be killer! As can the humidity and dew points. And why is it that nigh time feels so hot when you are sleeping?! Or is that just me?! LOL Take card Bev as you take care of hubby. Hugs, Brenda

Haha! I laughed out loud at your interpretation of Dip! Here I was thinking Distress Ink dipping (because, you know, my brain is hardwired to think that way) and you totally blew it out of the water with that snarky little design. And then you followed it up with the sweetest little tag and a really cool birthday card with interesting design lines! Look at you, you talented person, you.

so much goodness here...seriously. That first card made me LOL...for real.

I love your sweet friend card with the pretty bouquet of blooms! So happy that you could play along!

Your birthday card with the succulent...awesome.

Lovely cards and I love that dip one - inspired. Sorry to hear you are too hot - we are far too cold here in the UK - I'll send some cool over to your hubby to help him feel better - you send us some warmth - it's like winter over here.

Hahaha ... brilliant and clever dippy (tee hee!) card, Bev ... apart from it being so delciously CAS, I love the giggle it gave me! Sweet tag card with those delightful, whimsical blooms ... and fantastic use of DP on the last one ... such a cool, contrasting look ... so wonderfully masculine! Miss you heaps ... hugs & bisous, Anita :)

Your EZCHEESY card is utterly brilliant, delightfully charming and *as she heads to the cupboard to grab a chip or 10* marvelously scrumptious! Thank you for the shout-out (blushing whilst making chip crumbs...)! In queso you need a reminder: you are a GEM! Your sweet little vase of flowers: sheer delight! Oh, to have a wee bouquet like that on my kitchen table (however, given that it's part of the 'crafting zone,' the clutter wouldn't give it the limelight it deserves!). Perhaps some day...a kitchen that's a kitchen and a room that's a craft room! Your special son-in-law card: oh my! Handsome, eye-catching and certainly fitting for the wonderful man he is! Bet he loved it, as do I! Happy sighs in these return visits...makes me feel not 'quite' so far away from you...
Hugs and misses~c
