Distress

CASology's Cue Card for this week is "Distress." Perfect description for my week starting on Sunday... My sweet, darling middle son, who lives 6-7 hours away ended up being hospitalized from Sunday to Wednesday. And I couldn't leave DH to go over and help him and his family. While I won't go into detail, I will say that he's back at work, feeling as decent as he can be, and is hopefully on the road to a full, complete recovery. Even though he has incredibly wonderful helpful amazing wife, and three darling children, I'm still his mommy. It was hard to be so far away; total helpless feeling. This whole family has a very strong faith, and that has made all the difference in his healing process and attitude. I wanted to send him a card that would reenforce that sense of faith, and might help to mitigate any feelings of distress that he might occasionally have as he recovers. Freshly Made Sketches provided inspiration, as (obviously) did CASology.

I'd made my card, and as I was putting on the finishing touches, I had a ping moment. I put that card away, and made this one:

Very, very QAEZPZ. One stamp from Verve, and one bitty butterfly from AE. And one .3mm black Copic marker. I fussy cut the butterfly after coloring with a couple of Copics. I like it. Hope you do too.

Wanted to play along at Muse, too. Have you seen Jenni Murray's card? It has such a Springtime vibe, and the yellow really inspired me. I practically CASEd the whole thing.

I added a green band to mine:

The yellow gingham is from my scrap file, as is that green band and yellow cardstock. The stamps are WPlus9, stamped in Versafine black ink and watercolored with some Ziggies. That's all I have for today, but I hope to be back soon. Happy dances everyone.

My goodness, it sounds like it has been a very stressful time for you lately. So relieved to hear your son is recovering!

I *love* your first card! It is so simple but so powerful! The touch of the butterfly just as...hope?...I don't know how to verbalise it but I love it!

The second card is just too stinkin' cute! Clever girl!

Oh dear - happy to hear DS is home and recovering. We had one of those long-distance-difficult situations too with DD skiing in Austria and getting a concussion! Tough it is. (She's OK) Take care of yourself and check out my gold glittered eggs when you have a chance ;) Your gingham breath of Spring is delightful, Bev.

Oh Bev, sorry to hear this, it must have been so hard to be so far away. This is the perfect card and love your bright and sunny card for MUSE X

I love it Bev! It is simple and to the point! I know your son will love it too. It is hard being so far away from a child in distress and it doesn't matter that they have their wive and children. Once a mom, always a mom no matter what their age!! I am glad to hear that he is back to work and I hope his appointment on Monday leads to the road of recovery. Big hugs my friend! Brenda

So sorry to hear about your son's illness, but I'm glad he's on the mend and I'll send a few prayers for his continued health along. I am sure that he will love your card. I know I love that it is such a simple black and white card with that teeny tiny bit from the yellow butterfly. It really draws attention to the sentiment. And your other card is so bright and sunny and just what I like to see as I wait for spring. Only 21 days to go!

Fabulous card for Tad! Totally masculine with the perfect message! Love the 'Shirley look' of the dooddled border! Nice touch with the little butterfly!

Second card - it's got yellow & white gingham so I really need not say another word....but I will cuz I love the split flower panels and I adore the green border that you added. Yep - winner's circle!

Hi Bev! : )

No! I didn't know you were born and raised in Rapid!! wowie we have so much in common. We have both lived in Wisconsin and South Datkota and we both love paper crafting and the best of all we are sisters!! I am guessing you might still visit the Hills from time to time. I pray that one day we'll have the opportunity to meet - even if it is only for a quick Happy Dance! when ever you are nearby.

I am rusty in my blog posts and keep forgetting to put my supply list on my posts. The bike die you mentioned from my post is actually a stamp set and die from Papertrey Ink called Pedal Pusher : ) I will try to link you to it here:

Have a blessed day!

Oh, Bev, I'm so sorry to hear about your son! I'm glad he's out of hospital and home doing as well as can be. I can only imagine the frustration you must have felt at not being there with him. :( I think your card is perfect for him and I love you take on Jenni's card too. Big hugs to you!

Love both of these cards, Bev! Also glad to hear that your son is doing better, and I'm sure he'll love the card! It is good to have a strong faith, and a g0od reminder when we see our kids living theirs out...

Tad will be deeply touched by this card, Bev! Even though he knows you're thinking about him, having the 'physical' proof to hold when you're not there makes such a positive impact. Years ago, when I had surgery, my mom bought me a sweet little critter - the kind with 'clamp together hands - to attach to my intravenous contraption. Unexpected (mom isn't one for 'frivilous' *grin*0 but oh, how that gesture touched my heart. During the night, when I was alone and feeling scared, I knew she was with me. Those 'little' things do make a world of difference. I'm so glad Tad is home; so glad that answers are on the horizon (and I hope the fixes are easy-peasy!). Your Muse card...oh my! Beautiful yellow bloom and the gingham? In love!
Hugs, love and missing you~c

I don't know what you were going to make, Bev, but your 'ping' card is absolutely fantastic. I love your Muse card too and didn't realized it was a Doodlebud until your said it was WPlus9. I love that set and it looks perfect on the little squares.

Bev, your post really touched my heart and spoke to me...I do hope your son continues in his road to recovery, and I am SURE this card will make him smile. (I thank God for my faith in times like this...especially when you are too far away to be there in person to help. Prayers are always a welcome help in my book!) I love the doodled frames, and that sentiment is one I will need to get for my own stash...beautiful! A wonderful card for our CASology challenge...thank you! I also LOVE your second card...the yellow gingham and the lovely sentiment stole my heart! Take good care and be assured of my thoughts and prayers for your son.
