One for Time Out, and some time out...

My good friend Anita is the Guest Designer over at Time Out Challenge this week.  Naturally, I had to make a card. Anita's inspiration card is amazing. Seriously amazing. Here, I'll show you:

Seeeee.... I was right, wasn't I? It's a real beauty. Took me a bit to make mine. It's about the third or fourth incarnation, but I finally got something I was satisfied with. So join me in playing along, why don't you. You've got more than a week to get your mojo going and get a card done. I know Anita would love it!

So this is mine:

I started with a Neenah white base, and then using watercolor paper, did a sort of ombre wash with my Dollar Store watercolors. I cut the design with my Silhouette and left a few pieces of the gold in place. The 'birthday' die is from SC, and the 'wishes' stamp is PTI. The gold paper is from Michaels, and if you look closely, the blue 'birthday' is the leftover watercolored piece. I shadow stamped the 'wishes' using Studio G, and some Stampabilities inks. That's pretty much it.

Now...

DH is editing a manuscript from the 1940s for publication. It's a copy of a mimeographed copy. We tried to scan it, have it scanned professionally, but to no avail. So guess who's typing....yep. 300+ pages. I've got a third of them done, but I really want to get it done before the end of the month. And Kaylin's scrapbook, with about 15 pages to do. And a notecard set for a friend. The only way I think I can get this all done in the next couple of weeks is to put my blog on hiatus for the next two weeks. I'll be peeping in at your blogs, and might even leave a comment or two, but I won't be posting until I get my tasks completed. So don't worry if you don't see me. I'll be back, I promise. Until then, happy dances everyone.

Sounds like you have your hands full. Good luck with all your projects. I love your card. It looks like stained glass to me, with the gold instead of lead filling. Very classy.

Bev, this was well worth the effort, I do love the water colour boue and love you used the left over for the sentiment, a really elegant take on Ainta's card. So pleased you joined us at TIME OUT challenges.

Gorgeous card, Bev - totally, completely, utterly gorgeous! You've drawn inspiration from Anita and made something wonderfully "you" infused! Typing a 300 pg manuscript - seriously, that's a task I would LOVE to do! (If there's a way I can help, let me know). I love typing/editing (which explains why my comments are ridiculously long. I should practice the editing on my own stuff a whole bunch more!), and I can imagine the content is interesting (well...hoping so). I'll miss immensely your fabulous creations while you tackle your tasks. We know you'll be missing us, too! Enjoy - will be thinking of you, as I always do!
Hugs~c

Oh, my sweet friend, this is simply stunning! I adore the panel with the gold over the ombré turquoise ... and on the sentiment, with just the edges peaking out, it's totally gorgeous! Bev, you rocked this CASE ... thank you so much (especially when you've so much on your plate)! Thanks so much too for playing along at Time Out! 'See' you after all your other work is done! Hugs, Anita :)

Don't stay away from the blog for too long! It is sad when real life gets in the way of cardmaking. I love the richness of the turquoise and gold - gorgeous!!

Oh my goodness I love how you layered the "birthday" together. The little peeks of gold are tres chic! Good luck typing. That's a big job but think of how limber your fingers will be afterwards and you'll be able to craft all day long!

You made a magnificent CASE of Anita's card, Bevie! I just love it!! Take it easy with all those chores so you don't get a cluster of YKWs. You really are the heart and glue in that family!! Hugs, Darnell

Anita is amazing, and I adore your CASE of her card. The gold and turquoise is fabulous, and I love that you maintained the feel of her card, but made it your own. You've got your work cut out for you with that manuscript, but what a neat project to be working on.
