This week, Retro Sketches is celebrating their 100th sketch! How cool is that?! Love playing there!! The DT is fantabulous! Arielle, Kasia, Laurie, and for the month of February, Wanda have all created marvelous cards. Be sure to stop over and see for yourself. This week, in honor of their 100th, they are also offering a prize from Reverse Confetti, and RC's DT has also contributed to this wonderful parade of cards. Killer creations! Wanna see the sketch??? Ok....
I took a pretty literal approach when I made my card.
For whatever reason, the colors did not photograph well. The dark chevrons are pretty matchy-matchy to the blue in the twine. The peachy color is softer and less orange, and the vellum panel under the "happy" is closer in color to the aqua-ish chevrons. *Sigh* As soon as I win the lottery (hahahahahahaha...), I'm buying the best camera out there. So all the papers are scraps, except the base, which is Neenah white. SC woodgrain squeekquins, the "happy" is a sticker from Jillibean Soup, and the twine is from the Twinery. All those little chevvies were cut with my Cameo. I love this sketch. Arielle really makes fantastic cards, doesn't she??! I hope she won't mind if I tell you all that even before I started blogging, I drooled over her blog almost everyday, and was/am continually awed by her creations. Well, since I won't be going anywhere today, and since my chores are done too, I'm headed back into the paper mountain and craft a bit more. Happy dances everyone.

Do those sequins look like wood? Or do my eyes/the camera play tricks? They look very cool just like the rest of the card!
And since you asked... It's snowing here, too. Looks really pretty! Especially from inside a warm house! The road conditions are another story... Unfortunately I have to go out...
Stay warm!
This is absolutely adorable!! I love the sequins and your color combo is beautiful!!
Crafty Hugs!

Oh Bev, this is just awesome! I LOVE the colour combo, the chevrons, and the sweet details with the twine and the sequins! I also love your description about the "conversation". Even though it is FA-REEZING, it sure does sound like a magical scene!
What a fabulous colour palette, Bev ... and do I see a touch of perfect polka dots in the chevrons ... yes, I do ... gorgeous! Those wood sequins are just amazing!
Our weather is wierd ... wild winds, torrential rain, hot sun blue skies and rainbows ... all in one day! No snow yet!!
Enjoy the paper mountain climbing, my friend! Anita :)
Bev you have an amazing observation, I love the way you described the sound... I can picturize the grandma ;) lol. It's similarly cd out here, we had a snow warning today 13inches of snow :)
Now to ur card, superb is the word, I love all the pattern n the colors on ur chevrons :) lovely
I love your card...so fresh and fun. So happy to hear you did not risk your safety for photos...we saw the ice blocks on the news, such a strange thing. We have really had some odd weather every where this year. You get all the snow and we are in a drought on the west coast. You would think it would be easier just to share the wealth and spread out all the water. Fabulous card Bev!
That is the one good thing about the horrible weather and all that snow you're getting there, Bevie, we get more wonderful creations from you! This is really beautiful and I understand about the goofed-up colors. (I'm not sure if it's the camera, or Blogger!)
I do hope you get a snow break soon. I just realized how hard this must be on all the parents who are working and not prepared for having snow-day after snow-day after snow-day! If you have to work, what the heck do you do with child care? And at this rate, the poor kids will be going to school all summer!
Hugs, Darnell
I. LOVE. this. card. Seriously, Bev, this is amazing! The colours, the layout, the focal panel, the sequins...happy sigh. Some shuffling around happening in my Top 5 Favourites by Bev list to make room for this gem! Oh, your weather makes me cringe; glad your didn't venture out! We're having a lovely, blue sky day - with a temperature (wind chill factored in) of -40C. Gahhh...and this is the start of Alberta Winter Games! Hopefully things will warm up so the competitions can begin tomorrow! Fabulous post; going back to gaze at your card...Hugs~c
Oh Bev ...I can just picture it outside and it does sound way to cold and scary to go out, stay inside. My aunt lived in Fox Point is that by you?
Love your card and great job with the sketch. Colors look good to me but you see the real deal. Stay warm and cozy . We have a bit of rain ....yay!
Bev...go quickly to the RS site. Your AWESOME card has achieved SHOUT OUT status! Woo hoooooo!! Said it before, sayin' it again: LOVE. this. card.

It's funny, Bev, to read your comment about the weather as it is such a big topic for me too but for a completely opposite reason! Sending your some of our warm weather!
I really love that sketch. What a great design. I think your card is amazing. Love the colours and the use of the chevrons. The wooden, what did you call them...squeekquins, are darling and really finish off your design perfectly!
Every time I visit your blog, and C's too, I want us to all sit together and have a stamping day. I think it would be so much fun!
Those colors! Beyond beautiful design Bev.
