Some shopping accomplished

I left the house this morning at 9:30ish, and ran my booty right off! Stopped and got gas, hit the Red Bell for educational toys (where, incidentally, I hit the jackpot), headed to T.J. Maxx and found a red box that I thought would fit Kelly's presents and perused the craft section. Make sure the next time you hit T.J.'s you find their craft section. I'm finding tons of 6x6 tablets, punches, wood veneers... Very cool. After that, checked at Hobby Lobby in case they had a better red box, no luck, popped into Office Depot for DH, and then found a few things at Michaels. Can you believe that I was home by noon!! With a dining room table half full of waiting to be wrapped gifts! Great day so far!!

And now onto the cards...With my big family, many months of the year have multiple multiple birthdays in them. December isn't too bad, but they all seemed to be fairly grouped together. I'm starting with baby Kaylin's card. She's two. And when she was here for Thanksgiving, I gave her her birthday present. All's left is the card. Not that she'll care, but I'm sure my most treasured dil will put it in Kaylin's baby book. I used the sketch from Seize the Sketch. It's a good one, and seemed perfect for her card.

Bazill pink card base, scrap of dp, and a flower from my stash. The sentiment and #2 were cut with my Silhouette, and I used a smidge of ribbon from Michaels.

My youngest son has a birthday on the 13th. The baby of the family. Can't believe how fast these years have gone. He's a doctor now, and has 4 kids of his own...34 years old. But he's been such a blessing. Well, most of the time, lol! As soon as I saw the sketch over at CAS(E) this Sketch, I just knew what I wanted to do for Chris' card. Turned out exactly the way I wanted it to, too.

I used a creamy colored base, but not sure who made the paper. All the other cardstock are bits and bobs from my scraps box. The cool chevronish paper is from Studio Calico. I stamped "happy" with black SU ink, within a LF speech blubble. The "birthday" parts are cut with a PTI die. MME black dots. Manly enough, and he'll like the colors. Well, that's it for me for the moment. I'm heading back to the desk, and try to get the next cards done! Happy dances everyone.

Cool cards! And wow, I did not know that TJ Maxx is selling craft supplies now. I thought they were just a clothing discounter! TFS.

I'm tired just reading about your morning - but so productive! Sweet card for your little granddaughter - she will be tickled pink by it - the glittered flower is perfect! And your son will love his card too - I sure do!!!

Lucky you. I went shopping yesterday and it was a bust. I didn't go to TJ's but the closest one (20 miles) is little and doesn't have craft stuff. I'm loving your son's card. For some reason I gravitate towards manly colors. Your granddaughter will love hers. My after Christmas project is going to be to learn how to use my Silhouette.

Phew, Bev ... what a fabulous day you're having ... all that successful shopping and these wonderful cards! Kaylin's in so sweet, a glittery flower accent for a little two year old is so perfect! Chris's card is wonderful ... love the colours and stretched chevrons on the DP ... the angle looks fantastic ... well, if truth be known it all looks fantastic, dear friend! Anita :)

Boy, do I wish you lived close to me so you could be my shopper girl! What a dynamo you are, little Bevie! I'd still be at the first place at noon!!

I love both your cards. Kaylin (love that name!) will look back and treasure it one day soon and Chris will love his as well. Your design with this sketch makes for a great guy card! It sure is a winner in my book!! Hugs, Darnell

I've had the best luck at TJ Maxx for craft supplies. Lots of MS punches. AND, one year I was able to get all their American Crafts Christmas paper (which was really just their foil and glitter paper) for half off. Score!

Love your cards! I'm always a fan of including a number for kid's cards under 10. Such milestones for them! And the card you made for your son is great. I've got that Studio Calico paper too ... Tuesday Morning 25 sheets for $1.99. Crazy-good score : )

You DO have to stay ahead of the birthday cards AND the Christmas shopping, don't you?? Even with all that you have to make, each has its own unique touch! I'm loving your use of CAS(E) this Sketch. I really struggled with this one, but you made it a perfect masculine birthday.

{Thank you for your sweet email.}

You were a woman on a mission...that doesn't surprise me one wee bit...ya got something to do, you get it done...then there's time for crafting!

Awesome cards! Sweet, sweet wee card for little Kaylin. These colors are gorgeous together. Beautifully clean and simple with the perfect little pop of sparkle for the little princess!

The details on Chris's card are amazing! The offset "Birthday" and the speech bubble "Happy" are out of this world creative. Love the black mat on that gorgeous chevron paper.

You totally nailed these sketches...so without a doubt, I'm calling winner, winner!

Wow! Can you send some of your energy my way, along with some gift ideas? Living in small town Alberta, the shopping is pretty limited, so a trip to the big city "has" to happen soon. Need a very, very organized list, because crowded malls are inevitable! T.J. Maxx..wish we had those! Kaylin's card is darling x 1000 - one she will love, love and love! And your son's (doctor - how proud you must be!!) is the perfect guy card! Another one to be treasured! Fabulous post; awesome cards. I'll join Geri with 'winner, winner.'! Hugs~c

Great take on the sketch, Bev! I like how you made it more dynamic! And lucky you to score all those craft goodies at TJ Maxx. Our stores here aren't as crafty...

Great takes on the sketches!
I have to say I got a little envious of the stores you visited... I really wish we had a TJMaxx & Hobby Lobby nearby.... The closest ones to me are over 2 hours away and across the border in the US. I'm glad your shopping trip was successful!
