Went to my absolutely wonderful neurologist this morning for a recheck. I have chronic migraines; 15-18 per month, and nothing was working. Between Dr. Purath, and my N.P. Martha, we have tried everything from natural kinds of remedies, to anti-seizure meds and nothing worked. I was really getting depressed over these last years -- my life was planned around when the next migraine was coming. Sometimes eight days in a row, sometimes a trip to the E.R. to get morphine and compazine to stop the vomiting, missing work and special events, side effects from the everyday prophylactic meds... AACK! Not fun, as any one with migraines can surely attest. Then a few years ago, the FDA approved Botox injections for migraines. It took my insurance company eighteen months to approve it for me, but this spring, I went in for my first set of injections and then again in August. Not much change after the first set, and boy did that get me down! However, following the second set, there has been a HUGE difference! (Big Happy Dance here) For those of you out there suffering from migraines talk to your neurologist and get some botox. The only side effect I'm suffering from is not knowing how to live without panicking about food, weather, light, noise, exercise, and scents triggering a migraine. I get my life back. After thirty years I might be getting close to normal. I can live with 6-10 migraines a month; piece of cake. Thanks for letting me go on about this, but boy, this is life changing for me. (Everybody happy dance now!)
So rather than writhing in pain, I made a card. I love red and white, and wanted to play along with Dynamic Duos #22 this week. I didn't want to use green or black as the second color in this challenge, so I went with my favorite neutral color, gray. This didn't start out quite like this, but I really like the way it turned out. Sure hope you do too. I don't think your eyes will go too crazy with the diagonal stripes.
I started with Bazzill red, white and gray cardstock. S.E.I. Holiday Cheer Candy Cane patterned paper. Stampin' Up stamps. Tim Holtz embossing ink, Stampabilities white ink, Stampendous embossing powder for the snowflake and sentiment, and a random snowflake sticker. Fast, easy, pretty. Happy Dances everyone!
