Yay, it's June! I love the month of June, don't you? What's not to love, right?! It's got the most/longest sunshiny days of the whole year, generally speaking it's not too hot and not too cold, and the fireflies start coming out at night. I'm still delighted to watch them flicker; it's almost like having fairies dancing in your yard. I can remember being a kid, and with school
finally out, long days of play with all the other kids in my neighborhood... after we finished our chores, of course. Hide and seek at twilight was fun, and ghost stories with all us kids sitting packed like sardines on the back steps. Flashlight tag, being 'frozen' in whatever position you were caught in, and lots of Red Rover and Starlight, Moonlight. I was lucky enough to live in a neighborhood full of kids, and all parents were friends too. Moms and dads would sit in lawn chairs at whichever house we kids were playing (so often it was ours), and laugh, talk and share cool beers, with the portable radio playing in the garage rounding out the evenings with summer music. To this day, I can almost hear the sounds of us children's laughter, adult chatter, and Charlie Pride singing
Louisiana Man from those tinny radios. June reminds me of gentle days of play, and evening spent with friends so it's a good month! While those days of play are past, I have found another way to play in June.
Twofer. "Playing" cards is a passion we all enjoy, and making, sending, and sharing cards creates memories that also last. June will bring us 'round to another
Twofer Challenge, too! Create some memories this June. Play along with us; we've got a great prompt! Check this out:
I've pulled out my favorite sunny stamp and made a couple of cards. Here they are together:
And here they are individually:
I'm not even sure when Avery Elle came out with this stamp set, Bright Day, but I've loved it since I got my hands on it! That sunburst really trips my trigger! I've used it to make an Easter card and a birthday card. The Easter card uses an MFT circle die cut from a panel. I added some MFT grass, then the sun centered on the card base. A SSS cross and sentiment finish this pretty easy card. The birthday card started off as a slightly smaller than an A2 size. Distress Oxides created the sea, and those fun, funky bony fish are from Simply Graphic. A black panel beneath frames the panel. That's a MB sentiment. One of my younger grandsons thinks this sentiment is hilarious; he laughs every time he sees it. What a nut!

This are two fantastic sun cards, Bev. Small array of colors and perfect CAS. Just great! I can understand, why you like the sun stamp so much. It is really nice. And I can understand your grandson, because I am laughinh since I saw the sentiment on the birthday card.
Hugs, Sonja
I love how the sun shines behind the Easter cross, Bev! It's such a lovely scene! The birthday fishes are awesome! What fun fish swimming in the crystal clear water! Love your memories of summer days and nights! It brought back some happy memories of my own. Thanks for that, my friend!
You should write more often, Bevie! I thoroughly enjoyed your reminiscing about the summer days of your childhood! And I thoroughly love your two Sunshine designs! That is a remarkable sun and you've used it beautifully behind the Easter cross on a grassy hill and peeking out from the corner of your punny birthday fishes card! Enjoy your sunshine ... hey, wondering if you kids played "Ollie Ollie Oxen Free" in your neck of the woods? I never knew what the words meant so I'm off to look it up! Hugs, Darnell
Wonderful cards, and I have a hunch that your sun will trip more than your trigger! Lovely sunburst and it's very easy to see why you love it.
And the memories? Oh you got all of ours flooding back too, such grand times - the likes of we need more of these days!
The sun behind the cross is a perfect Easter card, Bev. I don't have that stamp but I may do something to CASE your card when Easter rolls around. Love those graphic fish. That clean and simple design makes a great masculine card.
Two perfectly sun-shiny cards Bev!! I love that sun stamp you used...it's so different than most other sun stamps with the super skinny rays...love it!! Your Easter card with the sun directly behind the cross is absolutely beautiful...you've given me an idea if only I can remember it by next Easter!! And those fish...oh my gosh do I love them!!! Such a simple card that really packs a punch!! And I loved your Summer memories too Bev...sure brought back lots of my own memories and all the games we used to play with the neighborhood kids. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!! Hugs. :0)
The cards are both great, Bev. The cross with the sun behind it is so beautiful and the fishes birthday card is so cute. Thanks for all those memories. We had the same childhood! We played the same games and caught the fireflies. Now I have Louisiana in my head to hum all day. We had to come in when the streetlights came on and have a bath. Those were such great days.
what a fabulous sun, Bev. Wonderful cards.
Just love what you did with that sun stamp, Bev - so serene on the Easter card and so fun with your fishes! How cute that your grand gets a chuckle from it!!
What a wonderful picture you painted of those endless June days, playing in the sun with your friends Bev! I loved hearing about your memories. What a great sunburst in that stamp set! I'm not surprised it's a favourite. And what lovely cards you made with it! I'm far too old to find the birthday fishes sentiment funny but it still gets a chuckle out of me every single time! Me too, Bev, I've had that AE set for years and still enjoy being creative with it! Your sun highlighting the Easter cross is beautiful ... such wonderful imagery full of hope ... He is indeed risen! Love seeing you use your Simply Graphic goodies ... those fish are so much fun basking in the sun ... whimsical, cute and just a smidgy bit quirky ... and how perfect is the sentiment! Always raises a giggle with me! Miss you, my friend! Big hugs and bisous, Anita :)
