Working It Out

It's been just over four months since John passed, and I'm not quite "there" yet. Don't know where or how or when the "there" will be. But maybe, just maybe, if I take it minute by minute and day by day, I'll get "there" eventually. I'm ever optimistic, and I count my blessings everyday. This morning I thought I'd try to spend some time in the craft room and see if I still had any cardmaking skills. The first thing I did was to run and find a sketch, and my friend Kylie Page had one here at StampingPals Challenge:

Take a minute or two to check out this pretty new, and definitely fun challenge. I found some papers, some dies, and a stamp that worked and got to it. Felt pretty "normal" if you know what I mean... It might not be the best card I've ever made, but thanks to this sketch, I truly enjoyed the whole process of making it.

In real life, it's a little whiter/brighter, but due to my poor photography skills, the photo looks like this. *sigh* But I think you get the idea. I've been hoarding saving that cute paper for some time now, and don't remember who made it. The navy and yellows are scraps. The sentiment is MFT, the navy panel was cut from a WPlus9 die, and the flower is from an older RC set. Pretty EZPZ, and I rather like it. Thanks to Kylie and the DT over at the Stamping Pals challenge for giving me a boost over the mojo fence. One of these days, I'll find my normal, but in the meantime, please have patience with me. I've missed you all. Stay safe, take care, and as always...

That really is the cutest flower pp and I can see why you've been, um, savoring it, Bevie. But go you for finally turning it into an equally cute take on the sketch! It will make someone's birthday really happy! The little posie is so sweet! It's wonderful to see you making a card (defo still have those skills!), and blogging, and enjoying the process. I hope your new normal means that we will be seeing more of that!! Miss you, my friend. Stay well! Love and hugs, Darnell

Your card making skills are still there. The card is fabulous. I like patterned paper. It is the perfect take off the sketch.

This came out cute. I like that the flower you made looks like the flower form the paper. So cute. I know things are just so tough right now. It will never be "normal" but you will feel like doing things you used to like to do eventually. big hugs!!! Miss you!

What is it about some of these sweet little papers that we just fight using that last bit … totally understandable in your case, Bev. It is/was a keeper, for sure. But it was saved for the sweetest of cards!
Darlin' you just keep on keepin' on … who wants to be 'normal' anyway?
xx

I can see why you've been hoarding that background paper Bev...it truly makes your whole card HAPPY!! Yep, I'm smiling my friend!! You can definitely do the "happy dance" about this card because you've definitely still got it!! And so glad to hear it felt "normal" to sit down in your craft space and play, but like Michele said, who needs "normal" anyway?!! (Is that why we all get along so well because maybe we're not "normal"??? Oh who cares!!) But anyway, so glad to see you pop up on my feed and that you're hanging in there my friend, and you just take all the time you need. We'll all be right here when you come back on a more regular basis! Sending lots of hugs my friend! And hey...thanks for all the sunshine and cooler temps this week...loving it!! :0)

Sending big virtual hugs your way my friend x So happy to see that you have used the 'hoarded' paper, I really do need to use instead of 'hoard' myself lol.

So glad that it felt good doing some crafting, Bev. That paper and matching flower die made such a cute and cheerful card. Take care and I hope we see you more often.

It certainly takes minute by minute, sometimes second by second to get through the loss of a spouse. I don't know about getting there as I think we just get on with a new normal. I do know you will "get there" eventually and we definitely have to count our blessings everyday as it is so easy to fall down that rabbit hole if we don't. Or at least it was for me, so I still count my blessings, have my "talks" with the Lord and move on the best I can, and it is has been almost 5 years for me. So I'm really taking my time getting "there". My thoughts, love and prayers are with you sweet lady! You haven't lost your touch in the craft room, this card is beautiful! I love that beautiful flower paper you used and the larger matching bloom on your sentiment. Loving the sentiment mat shape too as well as that scripty sentiment! Love and hugs, Brenda
