Twofer Card Challenge #29

Well would you look at that?!! Huh! Who knew that the number of today's Twofer post, 29, would exactly match my age, hahahahahahahahaha!?! Okay, I might be fibbing just by a few years...or more, but right this moment, I'm feeling 29 (don't worry though, it won't last....too many projects to do!). I hope you're feeling a #29 Twofer Challenge today. And boy, do we have a good one just waiting for you! It's (drumroll please....) Butterflies!!!

How perfect is that for a summertime theme?! I've noticed a huge variety of butterflies in my flowerbeds this year, and they sure have a way of lifting your heart and spirits just by watching them flutter around. And I've got a pair of cards with a "flutterby" or two on them to show you:

Both cards used Ellen Hutson's Everyday Doodles butterfly. It's such a sweet image, don't you think?!

For this first card, a birthday card for one of the granddaughters, I started with an MFT wonky die cut panel, and gave it a sponging over in blues. I used a total of three EH sets on this card. Except for the hearts, all images are die cut and the clouds are popped up a bit. I used Copics to color, and off it went to Lily.

My second card is a sympathy card.

I found a decent sized scrap of green polka dots, and had originally planned to use the cut-out part on a white base. I liked it better this way, so using some DO inks, to create a soft background, I went with this design. I added the sweet little EH butterfly, which represents resurrection, and the sentiment is from Verve. Pretty straight forward, and I was able to make two completely different designs in no time at all.

Now I know you have butterflies in your stamp/die/stencil collection, which means I'll be seeing you in the gallery, right?! Right! Be sure to head over to The Twofer Challenge and see all the incredible designs from my teammates, and our guest designers, KT and Barb! And as always...

Oh gosh Bev, the card for your granddaughter is so freakin awesome. I absolutely love it, to pop the butterflies at the bottom of the rainbow like clouds was genius and the sentiment... So cool. I bet this got massive thumbs up. Nice, subtle and serene sympathy card with the delicate blending. I hope you're doing ok and that days are getting a little easier, take care x

Oh my, Bev ... butterflies at the end of the rainbow ... how delicious ... such a sweet, fun scene with a brilliant celebratory sentiment! Your sympathy card is so soft and pretty ... there's a lovely calmness about the dreamy sponged background ... and the single butterfly is perfect flying above the die cut leafy frame! Think I'm recognising a little Simply Graphic here! Enjoy being 29 ... do we ever feel any older than that?? Big hugs and bisous, Anita :)

29 feels so long ago... it was so last year (wink). Love your fabulous inspiration, it is the butterflies of course, they are one of my fave in card making but I rarely add them anymore... I must do something about that, thanks for the beautiful reminders!

Oh to be 29 again and have a body that works. Just give me a body that works and I would be happy. lol I am totally in love with your twofer's Bev!!! The first card is so sweet with the butterflies at each end of the rainbow. Love those butterflies, they really are a sweet image. The sentiment is fabulous and perfect for a teen birthday. Your sentiment card is so serene feeling. I love the cut out area and the beautiful background you made for it. Your sweet butterfly nestles in there perfectly! The polka dot paper couldn't be anymore perfect on this card. Gotta get my thinking cap on and see what I have and can come up with! lol So you might see me in the gallery. Hugs, Brenda

29 actually was a pretty good year for me...met my hubby when I was 29! Wish I could say I still felt 29 in body, but yeah, in spirit I'm still 29 too, so you go for it Bev!! And as for your cards, they are both fabulous! I'm loving the whimsical look of your granddaughter's birthday card and what could be sweeter than butterflies and rainbows??!! And the same butterfly on your sympathy card fits in just beautifully with the softly blended background and polka dotted die cut panel. Lovely, lovely cards my friend!! And as for the rain you've been sending our way?? ENOUGH!! We like it in smaller increments over here in Michigan and NOT 3 months worth in 12 hours! Actually today is really nice and even have the air turned off and the windows open...I'm loving it! Take care my sweet friend!! Hugs. :0)

Super cute choice of butterflies, Bev! I love all of the whimsical elements you chose for your birthday card! The clouds are really fun, your pastel rainbow is darling and I love the fun sentiment! I also love how you used a single butterfly on your sympathy card, too...the tiny polka dots are charming and your CAS design is perfect!
Thanks so much for having me as your GD for July!

I think it's just genius how you used 2 butterflies on the ends of the rainbow to make it appear as if it's floating in the sky! A totally fun sentiment too! The tiny dots on the 2nd card are serene and suggest a calm feeling - just perfect to convey sympathy. I always think of butterflies when someone has passed so this is a great idea for the noted occasion. Beautiful twofer cards!
