January weather is upon us. Beautiful blue skies and tons of sunshine, but that usually means pretty darn cold weather for this month. I don't mind. I don't even mind going out in this kind of weather. You just have to be smart about it; warm up your car and dress appropriately. Snow is a different matter. I love it...except when it falls on the streets and sidewalks. Makes walking and driving a bit more challenging! It is what it is, however. How's the weather by you?
Card? Yep. Got one. I saw Loll's card for this month's
CAS Mix Up Challenge, and loved it. Then I had a
Pinggggg. I've been
hoarding saving a couple of very special pieces that I made under the tutelage of the famous
Darnell when we were at the Lake House in October. My little mind then said, "Hey! You could use one of them for this challenge!!" Now I know we used shiny paper, and that we used alcohol inks, but that's all I can remember. Little mind and all... I'm sure
Darnell can tell you more than I, about this technique. I just know that I liked it, and that at least one of these panels would work perfectly for this challenge.
And so it did (work perfectly, that is).
It looks soooo much prettier in real life. For some reason, it looked ugly without the flash. So I had to use it, (the flash) and while it's better, it isn't how I'd like it to look. *sigh* That's a PTI die, and I used the matchy-matchy stamp with some ME Smoke ink to give it a bit of a shadow. The sentiment is RC, and I added a few PTI rainstones for the "your choice" part of the theme. And now I have to run. I need to go buy some blueberries for a coffee cake (more company coming), and I still have a few other things to get done. This was a nice little break from the tidying up, though. Happy dances everyone!

Gorgeous CAS design Bev!
It is so hard to capture anything shimmery or shiney in a photo, isn't it? This looks beautiful, Bev!
It's a lovely CAS card Bev. What a pretty die that is. Barbxx
I love this design as a sympathy card Bev! Very pretty! Having only ever seen snow once (many, many years ago) I can't decide whether it is beautiful or a pain in the backside! We've just had a week of 34C & our temps rarely drop below the low to mid 20's (celsius) all year.
Beautiful ginkgo leaves, Bev! The alcohol ink colors are perfect for it! Thanks so much for sharing this with us at CAS Mix Up!
It looks gorgeous to me, Bev, but I know how frustrating it is when the camera doesn't cooperate and show exactly what's in front of us!!
Gorgeous.
Super pretty Bev!!!!! Love the green!
This is a perfect sympathy card in my eyes - beautiful and CAS! The green and the grey are lovely together!
Hope the New Year will treat you and your family well!
Maybe it's because I saw it in person, Bevie, but I think your photo does capture the beautiful sheen from the shades of green on the glossy paper! The ginkgo leaves were a perfect choice of die and the whole design is a lovely sympathy card. Well done for the challenge and thank you for the shoutout(s!)! You make me blush! Hugs, Darnell xxoo
Wonderful card, Bev. Fantastic work !
the shine looks amazing and the colour on the white really makes a stunning CAS card x
You've chosen one of the prettiest PTI dies for your alcohol colored piece, Bev! It is a beautiful card! Happiest New YEar!
xx

Beautiful shades of green on your gingko leaves Bev. And a lovely CAS design. Alcohol inks are fun to play with, aren't they??!! Thanks so much for sharing with us at CAS Mix Up!
WOW!!!! Great call cuz this image is PERFECT for the beautiful colors and the cool technique! I love the font on the sentiment and I REALLY love the rainstone blings!
BTW, I think the photo looks great!
It's beautiful in my eyes! And it looks like it has a bit a shimmer too!
It's Brrr weather here across the lake too, Bev, so I'm catching up on emails and getting some crafting done during my hibernation with a cold. I love that PTI die. It looks wonderful in that green alcohol ink and smart you to make a shadow by stamping it on the card first.
Love this card Bev! Love that image of the ginkgo leaves and I love your inky technique. Yep, cold here too and I don't mind the snow, or even driving in it. It's the other people who drive like it is clear, dry payment when it isn't that I don't like! I don't like walking on slippery surfaces either, cause I'm a klutz on dry, clean surfaces. lol And if it is freezing rain or ice, I stay home!!! Stay warm, be careful if it snows and have a great day. Hugs, Brenda
Lovely CAS design. Alcohol ink is one of my fave techniques but I usually only do backgrounds, your ginkgo die is perfect and so pretty.
Happy New Year Bev!! This is STUNNING!! I LOVE those leaves and the lovely gray you used for the sentiment. I wish I could hibernate right now but alas, the weather has been too warm!!!
Oh, how lovely, Bev ... soft, serene and so beautiful ... there's a wonderful ethereal feel to it, perfect for a sympathy card! I was sure we'd played with alcohol inks at the Lake House, as well as with Brusho's, but as my results were nowhere to be found round here, I figured I was mistaken. So, thank you for playing with your results ... I didn't imagine it! It brrrrrr here at the moment ... we had our first full day of zero C (32F I think) this week ... it's wrapping up weather! Miss you heaps, mon amie! Hugs & bisous, Anita :)
The photo and card are gorgeous! Is that shinny paper? You are like a Bed and Breakfast I would be so tired just changing the sheets :) but a full house is a blessing!
Oh I forgot to say can't wait to hear how you like the new trimmer, mine is about 25 years old.. you know the big metal kind
The plain white background really sets off those shiny ginkgo leaves - love the rain dots and gray sentiment - thank you for joining us in the CAS Mix up Challenge! Julia xx
