Couldn't help it...

Rather than working on Kaylin's scrapbook this morning, I just HAD to finish a couple of cards. In my defense, they were sitting in the middle of my desk, unfinished, and golly, I'll need the space to work on my layouts. Once I get the kitchen tidied up, and the chicken in the crock pot, I'll get to working on the scrapbook (*sigh*, not cards....). Welllllll....I might need a break from the scrapbook and will need to clear my mind (okay people...help me with the justifications here...), so there will most likely be a card or two made.

By 'happystance,' my first card fits two challenges this morning. As CASology popped up with a 'festive' cue card, and the card I made is very festive, I'll pop it into that challenge, along with MUSE, The incredible Therese has created a lovely CAS-tree card. I was inspired by her 'one' tree, and the bright colors of the jewels. And a big thank you goes out to Miss Kim who snuck a few amazing scraps into my dp scrapbox. You'll see in a second...

And my take:

I know. It's not a traditional shape. I like it like that. And the colors...well, I like them too! This tree just makes me smile, and here's hoping that you will too. The base is Michaels white, a scrap of black for the mat and tree trunk, a star from the goodies Miss D. sent home with me (thank you darlin'), a scrap of amazing dp from Miss Kim, and a sentiment from EH's new line (NBUS too).

Next is a card that started out waaaay different. It morphed into what it is, and I'm fine with it. Lots of granddaughters will like this. This one's headed over to CAS(E) this Sketch. So fun to play there!

And my interpretation:

More paper goodies from the BABES. The pink grid came from Miss Geri and is from Elle's Studio. A variety of stamps - AE for sentiments, LF for speech bubbles, and a heart from PTI. Versafine black ink, Studio G pink, and a Michaels white base. I think that's it...And I'm headed to the kitchen now...Have a great week and happy dances everyone.

Bev, this post makes me laugh! I really think you were peeking into my craft room this morning because I'm in a similar boat...justifying working on something entirely different than what I should be working on! :) Good luck with the scrapbooking! You were just trying to get your creative mind warmed up and what better way to do that than by making a couple cards?! ;)

Love your unique tree! It really does make me smile with its non traditional shape and colors! Makes it very interesting!!! :)

Love your speech bubble card too! A perfect trio!

Thanks so much for joining us again over at CASology!

I feel your confliction, Bev. I have so much scrapbooking I should do but I can't even seem to find time to make cards. Your cards are wonderful. I love the wonky tree and trendy speech bubbles.

Yep - two fabulous creations that will be garnering some cheers from the judges...and me - your #1 fan!

The speech bubble card is amazing...so cool and quite retro with the grid paper. Love the strip of dark pink - really showcases the # sentiments!

Your Christmas tree looks exactly like the one Danny cut from the bush last year...it also had a 'bit of a lean to it'. But wonky really, really works here with the cool paper and the sentiment font. Totally fun & whimsical!

I don't think you need any help coming up with justifications - you are doing just fine on your own!!!

Your off-kilter Christmas trees is about the cutest thing that I have seen. I can't believe how striking it is, just leaning it like that. The fun paper helps - but it's your idea and it's fabulous!!

You crack me up Bev! I don't have anything to help justify your card making instead of scrapping. lol I say get it done, so you are done!!! Then it will be card making all the way baby! I love, love your Christmas tree card!! I love that it is not the traditional shape and I love that it isn't the traditional colors. I love traditional, but I also love things that have a unique spin on it and this card has just that. I also love your second card, perfect for any girl teen!!! And it makes me smile. You BABES are awesome and I sure had a great time looking at the pictures of your trip. So glad you all have a fabulous time and were able to do this get together back in the fall. Hugs, Brenda

Oh my, you used that pink grid paper perfectly, my sweet friend ... wonderful cloud-soft speech bubbles against the graphic grid lines ... so yummy! The scrapbook ... how old is Kaylin ... can she come over and help ... just wondering!! Hugs, Bisous Bisous, Anita :)

That is the cutest wonky Christmas I've ever seen. Love all those bright colors! Is it winter at your house yet? I know my folks are expecting to see snow soon.

I'm giggling over the 'justifications' you have for making cards rather than scrapbooking; precisely what I do when it comes to doing much-needed housework! Cards are a priority, and that's that! So glad you set aside the scrapping goodies and went with the cards that are knock-out delights! Your tipsy tree is brilliant; while your speech bubble card, pretty in pink, is #AH-MAZING! Love 'em both!
