Here's today's tag:
All the papers are scraplings! The white base is actually a recycled chipboard paper protector from SU. I also pulled scraps of green, and a bit of vellum from my scrapbox. I applied spray adhesive to another section of chipboard, smoothed my precious fabric scrap onto it, then die cut the flower with a Sizzix die. The tag is from LF, the leaves are from MFT, a scrap of ribbon, and the stamp is from AE with SU ink. The 'for you' is actually under the vellum to give it a softer look. Two green blings from Creative Imaginations, and one enamel dot from BG in the flower's center. Please forgive the lighting. The blings and ribbon actually do match the leaves...just couldn't get them to photograph nicely. *sigh* So...I'm pretty sure my 40 year-old fabric swatch qualifies as something recycled. (hi mom)
My next card is for the ever sweet, ever funny, 42 Long, and dear friend Darnell's brand-spankin' new challenge. Now. If you haven't ever heard of Darnell, then you are either a newbie to this blogosphere, or well, I just don't know... She's brilliant. She's funny. She's one heckuva crafter! And she's my friend. Darnell has a great vocabulary; you only have to read her posts to see just what I mean. One of her acronyms that has filtered through the blogoshpere is NBUS. It stands for Never-Before-Used-Schtuff. New. Or new but it's been sitting in that pile next to your desk for weeks, or in a drawer for a really, really long time. My card contains all of the above... To go to her blog, click on her name. And if I've done it correctly, you should be able to click on her moniker below to be taken to her challenge post!
Pretty sure I followed the rules for my card:
The Neenah white base, the smidge of navy cardstock, woodgrain paper, the LF tag die, and the SU twill tape are not NBUS. Everything else is. That's a brand NBUS LF 'hello' die. The letters, the paperclip, the coral colored paper, the tag's paper and the enamel dots are also NBUS. There's a story behind all these goodies, but I'll keep it short. A darling, sweet friend sent me a huge box full of goodies which I've been hoarding. It came with alphabet stickers, papers, paperclips, stickers...just tons of wonderful stuff that I've been saving for something special...Time to stop hoarding, and start using!!!! So in your honor, Miss G., here's my NBUS card for Miss D.'s very first challenge! This is going to be fun!! So....what are you waiting for???? Go over and PLAY! Happy dances everyone.

I love the friendship card just brimming with NBUS that you made for my NBUS Challenge, Bevie, and I appreciate ALL (my goodness!) the wonderful compliments you paid to me, BUT ...
More than any of that I LOVE the sweet story you told of the fabric from that blouse your sweet mama made for you all those years ago. Given my situation, you can imagine how thrilled I am for you that you have such happy and beautiful emotions surrounding your mom and that fabric. Your tag for Virginia's challenge is all the more beautiful because of it and, yes, I think she would love that you made it! Mwah! Darnell
First of all, Bev, when I started reading your post, I was blushing (thanks for the KIND descriptions about me)! Then after reading up on how you used the fabric scraps, my eyes are all teary! What a memory from your Mom in heaven! I am so glad that you put the fabric into BEAUTIFUL use! I adore your dress tag and flower tag!! Well done, Bev! Thanks so much for playing Virginia's View Challenge!
Bev, I loved your sweet story and so happy to say that I have that very card, you were so sweet to share it with me. Your tag is just as cute. I love your NBUS card too, so fun with the big, bold hello!
My heart is warmed this Sunday morning, Bev ... what a beautiful post ... sweet thoughts of your Mom so eloquently put into words ... and shared, thank you! Your tag is gorgeous ... I love how the vellum overlay softens the background ... it allows that special bloom to take centre stage! What a fun NBUS card ... the bright and vibrant hello is gorgeous! Hugs, my friend, Anita :)
Big hug, girlfriend. What a story. What a card (see, more proof that you're the bestest grandma). What a tag.

Beautiful story Bev & lovely card!
What a beautiful post to go with your lovely tag and card! It left me a bit teary eyed too thinking about my Mom in heaven too. Must check this challenge out to see if it's still a go, and if I could recyle something of my Mother's for a keepsake.
A great story and what a more fitting creation. beautiful cards and loved your post.
My eyes are brimming with tears at how heart-warming and heart-melting your story of the precious jumper your mom made, that you've treasured all these years. You bet your mom is watching over you, wearing a mega-watt smile over how you've infused 'life' into the memory and connection through the tag you've made. A treasured work of art! Your second abounds with good vibes of friendship...and I count myself lucky to be one of your buddies! Hugs~c
Hey pal...you made me tear up and smile all in the same post! Your fabric flower card totally choked me up! So soft & pretty, especially with the velum! I can feel your mom's smile in my heart!
Then I smiled 'all over my face' when I saw your second card! You definitely are blessed with a keen sense of design - fabulous job mixing & matching the papers! I LOVE the three small brads in the corner - they look so cool there!
It's getting late and I will be up early slicing & dicing for Danny's parents 60th anniversary tomorrow!
