I need a good talking-to

I was bad in church this morning. Now I could claim that it wasn't my fault. But that would be lying, and I've been trying really hard not to lie. Rather than sitting toward the front of church, I sat past the middle toward the back. Like a "good" Lutheran, so the joke goes. And there I was, surrounded by young couples with their little ones. LOTS of little ones. I get myself in trouble when I am near them. Winking, waving, laughing at their antics and their parents struggles...Sometimes it's hard to concentrate on the sermon because I let myself get distracted by the little brown curls on Ellie, or the sight of a sleeping baby, all snuggled up in mommy's arms. One of these days, Pastor is going to stop right in the middle of the sermon, walk down the aisle to where I'm sitting, then point to the empty front pew. He won't say a word, won't grab me by the ear, he'll just point, and I'll know exactly what to do next. Can you picture it? Head hung in shame, I get up and walk, face flaming out in a million shades of red to that front pew... So I'm thinking that maybe next week, I'd better move back toward the front...to a place where I can control myself a little more...unless Emily is playing the keyboard that Sunday...because Cory might need help with their little girls.....and Ellie likes me....Oh, I need a good talking to!!!! (I belong to a great church btw...it's like one big family sharing God's Word.)

Enough of that for today, I was on a roll late yesterday and actually have three cards to share. I finished up the last one after (ahem) church.  First up is a very CAS card for the City Crafter Challenge Blog. For this week, it's "What's Cooking," where we are to create a project with everything related to the kitchen.

Pretty sure this one qualifies...

Pulled out my Newton's Nook stamps, and btw, they are some of the nicest stamping stamps ever. All but the speech bubble are from NN, and the bubble is from LF. SU black ink, Copics in reds and yellows, and a strip of gray just to give it some grounding. The grater is stamped on some TH vellum, and the base and bubble are Neenah.

My next card and challenge is for Fusion. Stuck with the photo part for this one. Cool photo.

I saw so much going on in this photo and had so many ideas, that when I sat down with my supplies, I found I didn't need as many as I pulled out. The card wanted to be made this way, not the way I wanted it. But I like it. It's for my bud here in town, Jen. She's going to be too busy to read this post for a while, so I'm not worried about her seeing it.

The base is from Pebbles Basic. Came like that and all I had to do was fold it! I used my LF tag die with a piece of birthday music paper from Geri (Thanks!). A bit of Gina K. kraft for the doily die behind the tag, and also for the flag. I printed out the sentiment (the inside sentiment got REALLY wordy...imagine that?!!) Three SC woodgrain sequins, a Doodlebug bird, some Michaels burlapy ribbon and a bit of random red twine. Whew!

Still with me? Hope so. And I promise it's the last card of the bunch.  This one's going over to Freshly Made Sketches. Went together really quickly.  Jen's sketch is so CAS and so incredible; thanks Jen!

And here's my take:

Neenah white base and panel. PTI's Wet Paint sentiment, with SU black ink. Random sequins in gold and black. A panel of TH gold vellum and one of striped from Simple Stories Snap. Way EZPZ! With that, I'll shut up now. Happy dances everyone!

I'm still smiling at your church story. I think it's great that you love the kids and they love you. It makes them feel welcome in church and that's important. Me, I like to sit near the front, although we ushered today so had to stay in back. Anyway, on to the cards. Great job on all of them. I especially like what you did for the Fusion challenge. I need to start working on something for that.

What a great story, Bev ... I can just imagine you having fun with all those little ones (quietly) ... and them having fun with you (not so quietly!) Fabulous cards ... love that sweet heart on the cheese grater ... brilliant card for Jen, with a great sentiment ... very cool and sophisticated stripes and sequins! Anita :)

Giggled at your church story - I can just imagine it! I always sit in the very back - I'm generally one of the last in because I run one of the kids' groups' rehearsals right before church and by the time I get organized and into the service, that's all there is left! You've had a fun day in the craft room, too!

Miss Bev...your are just so bad and in church of all places! I have to admit that I too get in trouble in church but it is from laughing too loud. Our pastor is funny and if it is funny...I laugh, just can't help it. Your cards are just fabulous my friend, maybe you should get yourself in trouble more often. Your first card with that cheese is just too darn cute and your second two are just so sweet. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Oh I would need a good talking to as well. It's hard not to misbehave.
Something about getting older that makes you relax with the little ones more at church! I can completely visualize you in church Bev :)

Your cards are fabulous. Love the adorable NN images and your Fusion card too! So glad you could play along!

Winking, waving, gigling at the little ones' antics - yes, you'd be in good company with the pastor-pointing, because I'd be blushing my way to the front right beside you! Truthfully, sometimes I 'start' the shenanigans! It's all about making them feel welcome in the community - and a few giggles and snickers is always a good thing! Actually, my mom had me in trouble at church yesterday with her rumbly tummy! Your cards are FABULOUS! Love the 'big cheese' images of the first; the music paper & red pairing of the second; and the happy happiness of the third! Sigghhh...you are really lifting my spirits today, my sweet friend! Super squishy hugs for you~c

Love your church story Bev! I took my youngest grandson to church with me this past Sunday and he had some really adorable questions about the service. I get distracted by the kids antics at church too. :)

No worries....it's okay to make noise in church when wee ones are involved. So consider yourself saved dear friend!

Three amazing cards! I honestly don't know how you do it! Sit down at your craft desk and in no time at all, you have three amazing creations ready to post!

Big cheese - great idea - nice touch with the grey shading!

Polka dots, kraft paper, sheet music (you're welcome) & bling - cannot possibly be put together any better than this!

Happy with black & yellow and a bit of bling totally made me smile all over my face!

That cheese looks REAL and so does the grater, just adorable design!! And that tag card? Forget about it. I'm in total love. And hey, you should edit your post to link it up with the Seize the Birthday challenge which has a topper of TAGS! Yes! Is that cool or what? Now scoot! Hugs, Darnell

You trouble-maker you!!! And in church at that! In a LUTHERAN church!! I've been in a Lutheran church my whole life and they aren't quite as loose as some other churches (the frozen chosen!) There are churches where you can get the kids giggling and squirming and all is well - but not usually a Lutheran church. Although I wholeheartedly agree with the fact that it is a church "family" and that kind of thing happens in a "family" (the troublemaking grandma!)

You clearly came back refreshed and ready to create!

This story sounds so much like my mom BEV, I think the two of you would get along FAMOUSLY! She can't help herself either, she oohs and ahhs over the little ones, babies, and not sure if you do this, Ooohs loudly in the car over flowers, bushes, anything of loveliness to the point of distraction, ahh we love her so..
Anyways...
This is a WONDERFUL FUSION BEV!!!

Thanks so much for joining us at FUSION!!
I ABSOLUTELY Love seeing your creations in the gallery and hope that you are inspired to join us again and again!

Bev, I can only hope that the people around us in church are as amused as you are, although now that the boys are a little older it's definitely not as bad. Love the cards you included in this post, especially your tag card for the Fusion Challenge! What a fun and different sentiment. So glad you joined the Fusion Challenge : )

Hello Bev! I just stumbled across your blog - I noticed a comment you made on Carols blog (just me c) where you mentioned Wisconsin and I'm from Wisconsin too so I had to pop over and check you out! Then I was so excited to see your cute card using Newton's Nook Stamps (I'm the co-owner) so I wanted to say hello! Thank you for using our stamps!
