A Smidgen of Time

Hi!!!! Good to be back in blogland, and I've missed you! Our company has gone for a day or two to visit other family members nearby, and I have a WHOLE day to craft! Well...I will spend a bit of today tidying up and running to the grocery store, but beyond that, it's a craft room kind of day! I've been "off-line" for most of the last two + weeks. I was really, really sick - caught the Spring cleaning bug, and couldn't stop. Other than the basement, the entryway closet, the insides of the cupboards and the outsides of the windows, the whole house is a little more sparkly and orderly. I walk around smiling, especially in those rooms where DH can't go, lol! I've also been working on sanding and painting an old metal office-type credenza for use in my craft room. That part is going slowly, but I'm rather excited about the prospect of more organization in here. I'll take photos once it's done and in here with its new glass top. Have you repurposed old pieces of furniture for other uses? I'd love to hear about your ideas, especially if they've found a new place in your craft rooms! My sister Sue is really good at that. She found bookcase-like display cases at her local card store which was going out of business, and they are now in her craft room. I wish she had a blog so you could meet her...you'd love her to the moon and back! Anyway.... I'm babbling; it's just that I'm so excited to be back in my craft room -- I've missed you all!

Today is my dear dil's birthday. And of course I made a card, which I'll deliver in person on Saturday. It makes me smile, although I'm not sure if it's because I really like it, or if it's because I'm just happy to create, lol! Probably equal parts of both. I've used a nice variety of stamps/papers/inks/dies on this one. And I'm taking it over to The Card Concept. After seeing the inspiration photo and the creations by the team, I knew I had to play along. Incredible. Check it out for yourself, and then join me in the gallery!

For me, this photo is chockablock full of things and ideas to be inspired by. If time permits, I may try another card. And my take looks like this:

Fully inspired by the colors, as you can see. And the stripes. And the flowers. And the sweetness. (Raining again, so not the best photo...) After checking out the DT's styles, this fits best in the Clean and Layered category, I think. All the white cardstock bits are Michaels, and then (thanks again sweet Anita!), a bit of linen cardstock for the big banner die cut portion. A large scrap of aqua, and a teeny-tiny scrap of rich pink for the band on the smallish SC tag die. AE stripes stamp, W Plus 9 rose, and TT for the sentiment. Some forgotten named, but much loved sequins, the Twinery twine, and some Joanne's ribbon. Just a smidge of froo-froo, but not so much that it makes me crazy. If time and Mr. Mojo permits, I'll hopefully be back either later today or tomorrow. Until then, happy dances everyone! (And who knows, I might even have some commenting time too! Woohoo!!)

ETA:
At Leigh Penner's suggestion, I'm also popping this into CAS(E) This Sketch

Thanks, Leigh!

  1. Welcome home, Bevie! We've missed you here at the Blogland homestead! Your card is a P.E.R.F.E.C.T. take on the photo inspiration! I love your card with a tag and a tag! It's like a triple layer of happy dancing!!

You asked about our craft room furniture. For the Playhouse, I've got a repurposed office printer cabinet and a repurposed blueprint storage cabinet. When I first set up shop in the garage, EVERYTHING was repurposed or second hand, but it worked just fine. I can't wait to see your new craft room furniture which you spruced up with your caring hands! Miss you! Mwah, Darnell

  2. Welcome back to the craft cave Bev! Your time away did not dim your creativity I see! Lovely take on challenge!

And as for re-purposing old pieces - that's my middle name! I always say I don't like to own something that someone else didn't own before me! My craft table is my step-father-in-law's old drafting table (very cool with cogs and gears and such), I've got some old wooden Pepsi crates that I store odds and ends in and some old wooden trays that lots of other odds and ends call home. The rest of my house has loads more "old stuff" but that's a story for another day!

  13. Spring on a piece of cardstock. This is the loveliest! It's reminds me of a seaside French hotel with its quaintness.
Glad to have you back in the blogosphere, although I'm sure your house appreciates the attention. Sadly, I am not a DIYer so I can't help you with any tips there.

  17. WHOA! This post nearly 'scaped my watchful eye; good thing I was coming over for a 'pop-in' visit! Your card is, as Geri so eloquently stated, a stunning blend of froo-froo-ness, oh-so-pretty colours, and clean layering! I know your dil loved it, as do I! Ah, the Spring cleaning bug...it gave me a wee nibble last weekend. Much done; much left to do...one of these days!
